Ignore the thickness, which is hopefully an artifact of the perspective correction.
Appreciate the effort - honestly - but the artifact almost makes it look thicker now. Everyone just needs to remember it's 18.2mm/.71in - about .1in thinner than the 750 series or .14 thinner than the 700 series.

It'd be an interesting marketing gimmick if Palm released this phone in "El Centro, CA."

Well, I still think it's ugly, but it's nowhere near as bad as the previous photos made it out to be. The keyboard still looks pretty small, and that D-Pad looks simply unusable. I don't like that they used up so much space for the D-Pad, hard keys, and the talk/end keys.

If you can't fit the Treo in your pants pockets, you need to stop wearing tight pants...it's really not good for your male parts. I have plenty of room in my pocket for my Treo, whether I'm wearing jeans or slacks.

completely agree on the amount of space that is taken up by the talk/end keys which could have gone to employing a slightly larger screen..right?

the Treo definitely fits in most any pocket, and with jeans it's hardly an issue. the problem is when you try and port it around in suit pants/trousers/loose fitting shorts. it takes up a lot of room, is quite noticeable, and sloshes around due to its size/heaviness. that's the nice thing about the less heavy and slim devices, they're hardly noticeable and extremely pocketable in all circustances, including a dress shirt.

I have a feeling Colligan wanted this leaked... just to calm us down after that Engadget open letter.

Nice move though. I really like it for Palm.

I don't know this, it just looks to me like the talk/end keys are rocker type buttons that also engage the calendar/email/home/phone buttons, so they are doing everything that we have six buttons for. But either way, I really love the looks of this phone, just don't know why it would be so much less expensive than any other treo when it seems like it's not missing anything the others have other than size.

Just in reading these and other posts I know they say it has a Micro SD card, and I'm sure any phone geared to the younger generation will have a camera.

This looks really neat! I can see a lot of people buying it just because it brings the best of both worlds. Great PDA and slick phone. Good job Palm! Now all we need is the widescreen high end Treo.

they need to desperately rethink the finish of the device.....please, something better than flat silver and black paint/plastic

and figure out a way to incorporate a larger screen on that thing!

I admit...its no BB Pearl. I may have said its looking better but I end it with those words. I think Palm loyalists are grabbing(i.e. reaching)and will proclaim it even if it isn't innovative as long as their is some change in the right direction.

So is this actually confirmed as a full PDA? I thought that with that price, it would be more like a SideKick device, where you got some features of a PDA, but not all.

as long as those who think removing an antenna, curving in the sides, and reducing the battery capacity consider it "innovative."

palm, you really have to fix your way of designing/finishing product....the thing looks like a walkie-talkie at best.....

I begin to like this treo now and might give up my 650 for it, even though I don't belong to the youth group they are tageting. no rev. A support for this treo. the new thinner and smaller design plus the threaded SMS app are the big selling points. watch out BB, it's going to be a Pearl killer.

Looks better in this color than the white. Now lets spec it and then we can really judge. Maybe if they clean up the look more, put WM(with threaded SMS) on it, 2mp camera, solid amount of rom and ram, and wifi I would for sure go for that device.

looks nice. What I don't understand, though, is why this device is heading for the younger group of customers? Which features will be dropped? I mean if it has a camera, SD or even microSD, BT and a touchscreen it can be easily compared to the "flagship" device Treo 680...

I can imagine that if the camera is not VGA it could be considered as a Treo 680 upgrade and called Treo 690, maybe?

I am probably buying the unlocked version as soos as I can
