    Thanks for all the responses.

I've had DA for a long time, but I don't use it anymore. For directions, I use TomTom and GPS, and for lookup, I use Google Local.

I can see a couple advantages that DA has over a browser. First, integration with your address book is very convenient. Second, it loads faster than Blazer, so you can start entering info right away.

As for the information that it gets, since it's getting its info from a website, I would think you'd be able to get the same info directly from the web. I've been testing out a lot of mobile sites, and Google Local (not regular Google) is pretty awesome whether you're looking up a business or a person. Of course, it'll never match the speed and convenience of a specialized app that runs locally.

What address do you use to get to Google local from your Treo?

Well, now I link through my own website (in my signature), but its direct address is:
    http://www.google.com/m?site=local

Btw, my intent in posting here wasn't to promote my website. I'll stop hijacking DA's thread. Sorry.

While I still am impatiently waiting for DA's return I did notice that GoogleMaps now lets you copy phone numbers into your address book and then dial. It is helping tide me over until DA's return.

That should help hold me over until DA is back.

ive been using superpages.com. Its fast and works as long as you know exactly what you're looking for.

FWIW, I second just about everything said. I love DA and miss it terribly. I hate having to use blazer - it's clunky and takes forever to find a phone number. (I probably need to work on my Google search techniques, but I digress...)

Looking forward to the revamp and am definitely willing to Pay a Pal to show my appreciation.

Man, DA can't come back soon enough for me.
I've been out of town since last Friday and won't return home until next Sunday.

Have been forced to use GoogleMaps. It works but is inferrior to DA.

When you talk about "Google Local" are you talking about Google Maps? I've never heard of Google Local, but when I typed in "Google Local" into Google, I get Google Maps. Just checking, because I love checking out new Google products.

I'm another DA fan who misses it. I know that I can get the info elsewhere, but I preferred using DA for the same reason that I prefer using Treo Weather over a website. A nicely written client app with a tight UI beats a trip to a web page in my book...at least on my phone.

Sure, I'll join the sob pool. Here's an example of why I miss it. The wife and I are shopping for decorative tiles ("all in all a pretty good Saturday . . . " but that's a different story). I search for "tile" and get every store in my area that sells tile, with addresses, directions and one-click dialing. The best free app on my Treo, hands down!

Yes, sorry. I guess they don't use the name Google Local anymore. They used to call it that: http://www.googleguide.com/local.html
Apparently, they renamed it Google Maps a while ago.

But calling it Maps on the mobile version doesn't make a lot of sense to me when it's mainly a phone directory. And I doubt many people even use the maps because they're tiny and worthless. (The Google Maps application, on the other hand, is very cool.) And they still call it Local in the url: http://www.google.com/m?site=local

I've actually used the maps several times for directions. It works quite well with turn by turn directions.

I also used it this weekend for a tel # & to locate exactly where the place showed up on the map.
Anyway, good backup til DA's back.
    Good luck to all.

You don't realize how much you rely on something until it's gone... DA is a magnificent app! I need it back!
I've heard that polar bear steaks are tough, but maybe if you marinated them in beer they'd turn out all right.
