    Greets all,

Picked up a GSM Treo 650 from a friend, looking to replace the 680 (yes, going backwards) that I use now.

The phone itself has no carrier logo, just "Treo" to the upper right of the screen. It works fine with my Cingular (now AT&T) sim card.

I'd like to update it to the latest software, but I can't tell which updater I should use, as I'm not sure if the phone is locked to a certain carrier or if it's unlocked.

Is there a way to tell?

    Thanks!

If it has a palmOne on the upper left side of the screen it's most certainly unlocked. I believe the carriers versions were a different color than the unlocked ones. The AT&T version was blue & silver.

Launch the Phone app, then Menu > I: What's the Software?
    V > Vx > m505 > m515 > T/T > T3 > TC > 650 > 680

Just a note to say the ROM is independent of any subsidy lock, so it really doesn't matter. Just check what ROM you have now from the phone app. Then you can check for upgrades.
