I'm not sure how this service works, but there are definitely alternatives from the mobile web.

What I use is Blogger via Google (and my gmail account) and post to my webpage by sending an email. I only really use it to post a photo journal of my son for our relatives, but you could post real articles easily from a Treo.

Flickr.com has a similar service and you can upload pics directly through your Treo. Nice thing is that you don't have to install a proprietary piece of software on your Treo to use Flickr, as you do/did with SplashPhoto. Simply upload pics through your Treo with captions and text using a special email address provided to you by Flickr. If you want the expanded and larger capacity, you do have to pay $25 a year for an upgraded Flickr account.

Very bad news. Although I'm thankful to mszatny for posting the news so I could export all my photos (75 mgs worth) to my desktop before the 10th. I had SB mapped to my green phone button on my 700p using Ludas....it was an every-day application for me. Will have to check out Flickr or something else...watching this thread. Thanks again for the news.

For me I could never get Flickr to work via e-mail, that's why I used Splashblog. I just tested Flickr again, and guess what?? Didn't work!

I like SplashBlog thanks to the convenience.
Also, I get to see all the pics I've previously uploaded within the Palm itself.
Adding new photos is a breeze, any photos previously uploaded will not appear in the "Add Photo" screen.
And... even more better is that you can add 66 photos (like I just did this morning before discovering the shutdown notice), press Sync and everything goes up into the SplashBlog.com site. Title and description can be added later.

It is this convenient and I am gonna missed it! I just got my Treo last month and have since uploaded nearly 200 pictures!

SixApart, you SUCK. You buy over a GREAT product and then kill it! What for???

This does suck. I knew it was coming eventually when SplashBlog was bought by SixApart. I too will miss the service.

This really isn't surprising news. They are putting all of their efforts into Vox. I agree it does suck, but I love my Vox. They do have an app for PalmOS Treos. The app reminds me of SplashBlog a lot.

    Greetings,

I tried to download my photos by using their zip creation button. The web page gives me an error saying that the disk is full.

Zip download worked for me. I moved over to using Vox now. Works great with the T755p.

thanks for the info on Vox... just saw the site, downloaded the Palm app (surprisingly, they didn't promote it, managed to find it thru their Knowledge Base), it seems that they used the same code from SplashBlog...

i am a little happy now...

Ive used Vox off and on for over a year (basically only when Im on holidays), both on net cafe PCs and with my treo (plus the neat Vox app).

I loved it when I first started using it, but on my last holidays a few months back connecting to it via the Treo or PC seemed to have become incredibly slow, and on the Treo, Vox often wouldnt let me upload because of time-outs.

I put it down to the usual case of companies skimping on infrastructure as they become more popular.

What's been your experience with connection speeds?

(I now mainly use Vox as a page to list links to my Google Picasa Galleries, since, while the Google facility is generally excellent, it has a weakness when it comes to password protection - and mobile uploading).

    cheers

    Greetings,

When I try I get a "not enough disk error message."

There does not appear to be a support email address.

The vox application is a good tip that I will try

Here is the link to the Palm software for vox

    http://help.vox.com

It's not as good as Splashblog so I hope they update it soon.

I was on the site but I could not tell?

Is there an upload limit for pictures?
