BTW, I don't have to go into the app to blog. As soon as I take a picture, Vox jumps in and asks if I want to Blog it with 'yes/no'. I can enable/disable that and even have it just publish automatically. Once again: WM version but I would think the POS could do it as well?

My only concern: Will Six-Apart kill Vox too? They own Movable Type, TypePad, LiveJournal, Typekey, etc. Which are mostly "pay" services. Vox is free and seems to have been acquired by them
Yeah, the POS client doesn't jump in when in the regular camera app, also you can only post one image, there are no settings where to put the pic, it does have meta tags and privacy and the email route doesn't. For Blogger I can't modify the posts from the Palm either, but that doesn't bug me too much, my moblog is just to post pics taken from my Treo of my kid for our extended family.

Weird, I just received an e-mail from them saying Sept 10th.

I'm trying out Vox. It seems pretty nice so far, although it has way more content than I really need. I just want a place to upload my photos directly from the phone, so they can be viewed by my friends and family. SplashBlog was perfect. I even paid for the premium extended space. Is there any more simple alternative?

Really check out Blogger. It is totally simple, just take a picture (or browse to a picture from the camera app or RescoViewer etc.) and then email it to your Moblog email address. It gets posted instantly. It is free, simple, and your webpage is very clean with only the content you want.

First, let me apologize for not replying sooner. I've been away at a disability conference.

I put it down to the usual case of companies skimping on infrastructure as they become more popular.

What's been your experience with connection speeds?

(I now mainly use Vox as a page to list links to my Google Picasa Galleries, since, while the Google facility is generally excellent, it has a weakness when it comes to password protection - and mobile uploading).

    cheers
I have zero problems with uploading via PC or Treo. Vox is always speedy for me.

I tried uploading a pic, then removing it, but it continued to exist in the web site!

Furthermore, any blog posts published cannot be edited using the mobile app! What if I typo-ed SOCKS as SUCKS???

    Disappointment...
Yes, you can edit. Choose the post you want to edit press Alt+E and edit away. You just can't delete post. You can delete from the app. It just won't delete from the blog.

I'm not worried about Six Apart abandoning Vox. Six Apart wrote the code for Movable Type and started the TypePad service. Then they later arquired other services such as LiveJournal. Mena and Ben Trott, founders of Vox, started Vox with the non-professional blogger in mind. They thought of their parents and less tech savvy friends who they believed would make excellent bloggers even if they only blogged to keep in touch with family and friends. That's why there are different privacy levels and why Vox is very community driven. Question of the Day is so popular because it gives people something to talk about when normally they wouldn't know how to start. TypePad and Vox are Mena and Ben's babies so I don't see either services going anywhere any time soon. Also Mena is very involved in the Vox community. OK that's enough of the Vox history lesson. If you want to know more I suggest you listen to the Leo Laporte and Amber MacArthur's Net@Nite interview with Mena.

If you post something into the Library, you can't edit. I get this error message when I tried editing: "This post has been published and can't be edited."

Also, when I post a photo, the timestamp is of the blog posting date, not the photo's date, which SplashBlog used to do. I could just select a bunch of photos, press Sync, and they go up into SplashBlog according to the date/time taken.

It is not so obvious from the info provided from the company, but there is a Palm OS Vox client. It works pretty straightforward.

You are right. I've never tried editing anything in the library.

I'm moving to the Treo800w. What's a good blog software program that you can edit from a Windows Mobile Treo?
