I am looking for the simplist way to write emails on my visor, synch and be able to send them through my yahoo account.

I currently just use my web browser to access yahoo mail, which is what I prefer over using a program like outlook or eudora that downloads your email off the server. However, I understand that I will need to use such a program in order to accomplish this.

The simpler the email program for the pc the better. For example, I would prefer using eudora over outlook. Then what is the best palm app for creating email and synching to the pc program? All suggestions highly appreciated. Freeware would be even better.

Currently I have no plans on actually downloading any email into my visor for reading offline. I just want to be able to compose email and then synch and send it.

    thanks again

Eudora Internet Suite is what you need. For what you need, it will work fine. The newest version (2.1) has problems but I use 2.0.2 and love it. It syncs with the Eudora inbox transparently. I love it because I can send an email wherever I am and not worry about forgetting to do it when I get back to my office.

I think that there might be an additional issue here. If Yahoo! Mail is your mail server, you may not be able to download email with a program like Outlook or Eudora (even if you wanted to), and I don't think that Eudora Internet Suite will be able to send mail that is synched from your Visor.

I use POP3HOT to send Visor-composed email through my Hotmail account, but I don't know of a similar program for Yahoo! Mail. The basic problem is that Web-based email doesn't jive real well with POP3-based email programs, including Eudora.

Does anyone know if I'm right or not on this?

Yes, EIS will send mail composed on the Visor through the conduit, I do it all the time.

In general, POP mail and Web mail are two different things but Yahoo does offer a POP option for their service. I've never used it but EIS should work fine with that.

EIS will work (natch) with Eudora 4.3 and above. It can be used with others as well, but I don't use any of the Outlook things so I couldn't actually say for sure.

You can go into your yahoo mail account and set it for POP3 access. Then you can sync it with whatever POP3 client you wish - Eudora, Outlook, etc. Then you can set your Visor to sync with the POP3 client. I do this with my own POP3 client using Outlook express.

I haven't gotten to the synching of email yet. I donwloaded the latest edudora for my pc and installed it. This is where things get wierd. If I just try to send an email, I get errors saying the server kicked me off, etc. BUT if I try downloading any email first and then sending any, it works fine. Can anyone explain this and how to fix it?

I don't want to use eudora as my main email program, thus I don't want to download any email to it. I just want to use it to synch to and then send off email. I would still like to receive my emails by just going directly to yahoo mail.

    Help.
    Thanks

If you're using Eudora in Free mode then go to options, select sending mail and make sure the outbound mail setting is: smtp.mail.yahoo.com

If you're in paid or sponsored mode, you can do the same in the "personalities" section. Pick the personality (email account) you need to edit, right click and select properties. SMTP server should be: smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Eudora takes a little getting used to, but it's much better behaved than anything else out there. I've been using it for quite awhile now so if that doesn't cover what you're trying to do.. Let me know!

Richard? Steven? Whoever you are, you are seeing the expected behaviour and I don't believe you can change it. Here are the details:

I'm using EIS 2.1 and it syncs with Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora and others. I got tired of using Eudora and
went back to OE and the syncing is fine. Yes, you can use
OE, Eudora and others to download and send e-mail thru Yahoo
mail. It works fine if you set it up right. I like EIS because the mail program will let you view HTML pages w/o all the annoying tags. It shows color on the Prism as well.
E-mail me if you need help setting it up.

EIS may be a little overblown for you. If you want to simply send mail, get "top gun postman". You simply enter your smtp.mail.yahoo.com address to set it up. It uses the mail app already living in rom and sends whatever email is in the outbox. TGP only uses 34k of ram. When you open it there are only three buttons: "send mail" "get mail" & "both". You just open it and tap "send mail". If you never send the email, it will sync back through the palm mail conduit to your desktop outbox. It is freefare.

If you havn't done it already, you must go to your yahoo mail page and set up pop mail first. Be sure not to check off any interests on the questionare so you won't get a bunch of junk mail from them.

    Good luck
