Well every program on my treo except Blazer can access the internet... Chatopus works fine, Chattermail works fine, Opera Mini works fine even. But blazer refuses to open any web page. I can even ping fine....!

Anyone encountered this one before? I am on Tmob with the unlimited pda plan.

I am having the same problem. Started this afternoon, I wonder if Tmo is having some trouble.
    PalmIII > PalmIIIx > PalmIIIxe > TRGPro > Handera 330 > Zire71 > Treo600 > Treo650 > Treo680 > Treo750 > Centro > TreoPro > iPhone 32GB 3GS

if you set the proxy in Blazer to 216.155.165.80 on port 80 or 8080 it will work. TMo screwed somewhere... I am gonna try calling them again and see if I get someone competent.

I think their normal web gateway (the default proxy if you will) that is assigned to us is f'ed up somewhere.

Well the thing is it should work fine without the proxy! and it was working fine until today.

I just called Tmob, and basically the guy acknowledged the issue but flatly refused to create a trouble ticket! "Palm is not a supported device, you have to take your Sim card to a store and put it in a WinBlows device and try it, if it doesnt work we will create a trouble ticket."

why the **** i pay tmobile $20 a month for internet then????

Well I sent TMO executive customer service a nice little letter. I pay TMO $20 a month. They better support their crap.

And they can tell from the IMEI what device it is. I am pretty sure they can.

they never ask me for my IMEI, well... if they do, I toss them my friend's Dash # or my mom's PEBL #.

I want to switch to AT&T, but will go through the hassle at the end of my billing cycle. August 20th.

they dont ask for the imei.. they dont need to.. its sent when the phone does GSM registration...

i thought about switching to ATT once... but its a matter of choosing the lesser evil. I dont like the thought of giving my money to someone who sleeps with the gov/nsa.

yeah neither do i, but i get a really weak signal everywhere... so its a loose/ loose situation.

my phone doesn't do GSM registration, im sure if it does... they would actually know im using a Treo, they don't. or they dont care...

The IMEI number is used by the GSM network to identify valid devices and therefore can be used to stop a stolen phone from accessing the network. For example, if a mobile phone is stolen, the owner can call his or her network provider and instruct them to "ban" the phone using its IMEI number. This renders the phone useless, regardless of whether the phone's SIM is changed.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMEI

Which means that at some point when a phone locks in with a tower, the IMEI is sent along with the SIM info. Manufacturers have to register for IMEI allocation. So I am sure Telcos have a way to tell what device it is, for example for selecting specific network features? Right? I am just theorizing.

I have seen a list of all the phones I have tested in the last seven years. I printed it at a TMobile store, so, yes, they know exactly what phones/pdas folks are using. My list was several pages long and the rep couldn't believe all the phones I've tested. All were list by manufacture and model!
    Palm III -> Palm V -> Blue Palm Vx w/Omnisky -> Treo 270 -> Treo 600 -> Treo 650 -> Treo 680

They ask me what phone im using and I tell them. I looked at my list once and it never said a Treo 680. My 600 that I purchased from them was on there, my 650 because they helped me unlock it, but not my recent purchase of a 680. (ok, it was March).

TMO told me to tell them the wrong phone, because they don't handle the 680. Since only the 650 was on the list, they told me to check off that. Unless you select one of their phones, you won't have your on-line billing work right. So much of their system is screwed up, do you really think they care about details at all?
