    OMBeta?
    It's huge, BTW. 11megs.

    Im using 700p with new released update.

    Read the included readme. It's broken into language parts.
    Got a soft reset going in and out of the settings in prefs.
    BUT, mine has been unstable for a while now..(So don't judge that for certain.)

    What is 11 megs? The Java file is only 2.5 megs, but there are all different versions int he zip file you download originally to get to the english version.

    Yep, no help at all. I actually had it uninstalled fro a long time since I basically had the same issue previous to the new java vm.

    It hard locked in Opera 4 beta.

    I don't get it. It takes them forever to release an update, when they do it crashes..
    Maybe Opera has to be redone to support it.

    What is the Java VM good for on my Treo?
    Pilot 5K->Palm IIIc->Tungsten T/T2->Treo 650/680 -> Pre+ (1.4.5 & Uberkernel)

    Just Installed it with opera mini beta, so far works great. Also now when in opera you press alt key you get a mini keyboard for special characters. And also noticed that when you press phone button now it goes to phone menu instead of pop up with options. So far it good.

    Knock on wood, Opera Mini is running fine on my 650 (w/new Java). As a matter of fact, I'm posting this note with Opera Mini Beta!

    Thanks for the heads up and link Wilsonb!

    I installed the two new PRC files exactly to the Palm instructions (hotsyncing instead of OTA, email attachment or FileZ) and no problems.

    Ran Opera Mini 4 and HrlyXCast and no problems, resets or issues at all... even my settings stayed intact and no significant change in memory size.

    Running on 700p on Sprint.... so far so good here.

    Wow this new update really did help a lot! no crashes as of yet! It might just be me but it seems opera runs a lil faster now...
  17. #17
    If we install this, would we be able to run those little java midlets that people use on other cell phones?
  18. #18
    The package comes with a GolfScore midlet in the Samples folder.

    I installed it and tested it and it works fine.

    In the ReadMe file (quoted below) it also lists some sources (I am sure there are other sites) for downloading more midlets so I assume there is compatability there.

    Still no crashes or problems for me in Opera or other apps using the new Java.

    I did have to reinstall the "j9secpol.prc" file for HrlyXCast to get it to stop asking for permission to access data from the internet.

    3. SAMPLE MIDLETS
    ==================================================================

    Java MIDlets are available on the Internet. The following sites are popular for downloading sample MIDlets.

    http://developers.sun.com/techtopics...ty/allsamples/

    http://midlet.org

    http://www.midlet-review.com/index?c...ames/freegames

    Hope this helps.

    i installed over my old version...not sure if i got upgraded or not.

    can someone please look at their VM version info and confirm:

    J9 2.2.14ARM ..the latest?

    thanks guys

    Yeah, that's the latest. The benefit is that it seems to make Opera mini 3 rock stable, but 4 beta still locks up frequently.
