I was bored today and this thought suddenly popped into my head. Can I do a hard reset using one of those free soft reset tools?

Turns out you can. Might be common knowledge now, but it's nice to know it works anyway. It also only works if your Treo isn't frozen.

Download one of these soft reset apps.:

Use one of the above to do a soft reset. Once it has started the soft reset, hold the power button. Once the "Access Powered" screen appears, let go of the power button.

Using the softreset.prc program have you ever had a problem where after the softreset the 755 doesn't see your SD card?

When mine came back up, it couldn't see it. I removed it and it gave the tone for removing the card, reinserted and everything was fine.

I've had that happen once when I installed an app. that required a soft reset after installation. After the soft reset my card was gone. I then did another soft reset with one of these apps. I linked to and the card was there again.

Haven't seen this issue more than once with the 755, more with previous models. Solution seems to be what you did - just fiddle with reinserting the card (I use the stylus to jam it in - my fingers ain't that skinny).
Treo 755s in good condition available on ebay for $50-$75. No need to pay for insurance or buy a Pre.
