Okay, I installed the firmware with a SD card and it worked. Decided to hotsync and install my palm contacts, calendar, third party apps, etc. from my Mac G5 desktop and my contact list is crashing the conduit manager every time. A palm mac tech told me she would call me back when she came up with some possible solutions but I'm getting antsy.

Starting to wonder why I bothered with the firmware update. Now I have a "naked" treo without any of my data. FYI, I'm running the Palm OS with my treo 700p using a Macintosh, both at home and work.

    Any ideas?

From your post, I can assume that you don't have an SD card backup of your data?

No but I have a full set on two separate computers, one at home and one at work. Can't help but notice that we have the same last name and I'm from Savannah, Georgia where I lived until May 2006. Strange.

Here is the last notation in the Hot Sync log:
    Installed ContactsANIndex-PAdd
    Installed ContactsBDIndex-PAdd

    Help.

Actually, I just moved here from Atlanta about a year ago. I'm constantly asked if I'm related to Thomas Gamble, the mayor in the 30's and 40's...or the funeral home family.

Are you using BackupBuddy? Those files usually aren't backed up and restored, as a rule; the Contacts conduit, at least on a Windows machine, takes care of restoring the Contacts PIM data.

I have a trial of BackupBuddy installed that I put in two days ago. Could that be the problem? How do i get rid of it.

I'm not related to any of those Gambles either but I always got asked about it as well.

    Thoughts?

I'm not sure how it's set up on a Mac, but in Windows, the backup directory is /Palm/<username>/Backup, where <username> is some variant of one's Hotsync ID. Try moving all Contacts* files out of that directory before your next restore attempt.

It's working so far since I removed the contact list files. Any ideas how I might get those contacts back into the treo.

Your Contacts conduit should have put them back. Was your Treo freshly hard reset this last time? If not, did you change the Contacts conduit's action to "Desktop overwrites handheld"?

Trying full on hotsync now with "Desktop overwriting Handheld." Will let you know.

Hotsync went the distance but contacts didn't go to the handheld. Here is the error message.

    - The Contacts conduit could not find a Contacts database file on the handheld. Please launch the Contacts application on the handheld, then perform another HotSync operation. Contacts did nothing
    - The Calendar conduit could not find a Calendar database file on the handheld.
Please launch the Calendar application on the handheld, then perform another HotSync operation.

Bill, I think I've got it working now. Part of the problem I suspect came from the IT tech who came to my office yesterday and tried to set up my Treo to do interact with the Exchange Server at work. Thus, the treo was trying to find calendar and contacts via a web based outlook rather than the Palm OS that I rely on. Now that I killed that email account, it seems to be finally be working. Thanks again for all the help today.
