I've seen quite a few of the palm bashers making comments that Palm has released the 755p with the same sort of lag problems that 700p users were facing before (and some after) the MR release.

I, for one, have absolutely no lag that I can detect when going between apps or in and out of blazer, or the camera. At most, it takes maybe a second to do anything...and I have quite a few 3rd party apps. Now I did have to get rid of TreoAlarm and TreoAlertMgr since they were having problems...but since then this new Treo has been a joy to own.

Is anyone really experiencing a consistent lag of any sort that is more than a few moments? Or are these allegations simply not true?

I really wanted to get th e755p, well I did try it and like the design, the smoothness and no antenna. I know Jimmie G. says he has no lag but I certainly did. Know I do have a host of programs; including Treo Alarms, I never expected it of being the culbrit. Now if that is the case I will be the first to aplogize to Palm. I have been a Palm fan for many years. I will delete my Treo Alarms tonight and see if that helps the lag to decrease. I got the lag in answering a phone call and also clicking on icons and searching for contacts. It was annoying and I wanted to like the 755p. My 700p post MR get lags all the time in all the areas I discussed plus blazer of course. I have ordered the BB 8830 which should be here on Friday, If I do not like it I will return it. If the lag is fixed with deleting Treo Alarms I may again try the 755p. A lot of my programs that I use on the Treo, I have found similar programs and my medical programs are now being provided by Skyscape.com which just released support for the Blackberry's

What specific problems did you have with Treo Alarms?

    I have a lag...

Big time lag, particularly in Snappermail, Blazer, and when playing Hearts or Backgammon. I'm sure it's from one of my add-on apps, but I don't have a clue which one, and have far too little time to investigate.

blazer lag is usually do to having the clear cache on exit checked...

also I've noticed if your cache is almost full, blazer stops caching pages efficiently, meaning instead of dumping previously stored pages from the cache, it dumps the recently stored pages... so anytime you exit & enter the app, it causes the rendering to be slow...

me personally, I have my cache settings bumped up to 8mb & manually dump the cache when I sense it is getting full...

lag on blazer (i have it set up to clear cache upon exit) and lag on some apps including a bowling game... a lot of lag when its going from roaming into sprint.

I had initially noticed some lag when it didn't seem that my 755p was responding crisply to some of my keypad or touchscreen entries...that was with all of my apps loaded. Then, I happend to be playing "Prison", and noticed that the ball seemed to be consistently pausing every 5-10 seconds or so, and that the paddle would also be hesitating and unresponsive at the same time. I thought this was a curious issue and wondered what apps might be occupying the Treo's resources enough to make the game pause so frequently. So I did a hard reset, and reloaded everything back, one at a time, Prison first. After I added each app, I went to Prison and looked for the pause. The pause didn't appear untill I added TreoAlarm or TreoAlertMgr. I'm really not sure now which one was the real culprit, but it was definitley one or the other, but I left them both off and bought Butler instead.

Prison seems to be a good test since any pause is readily apparent and not dependent on the user or the network.

So folks, how can it be that some users like treoneo have these consistent, horrid, unexplained 30 second lags and some of us have none at all? Are their phones lagging right out of the box? How can they be helped? Is it a QA issue and they need to keep exchanging phones until they get one with no lag?

The only lag I have is closing blazer or opening calendar and at most its 1 second nothing more. Compared to the 700p the 755p is faster but still not as fast as the 650. As I have said before 650>755>700.

I'm sure some of the issues are harware & quality control problems, but my guess is that the majority of issues are just poorly written 3rd party apps, programs not playing well together, and user error... and the poor treo gets the blame for it all...

I bet 70% of the returned treos are fine, and could be fixed with a hard reset, and doing a true clean install of apps (actually going in the : program files/Palm folder and clearing out the previous data, and not restoring old backup man, & resco back-ups, etc....

this post applies to the 600/650/680/755... the 700p was just a flawed device (imo)

I agree 100% with you. I have spent hours playing with 3rd party software and have narrowed it down to applications that wont crash/lag my phone. I wish I had more 3rd party apps on but so far I am done to just a little more than a handful that dont crash/lag the phone and dont conflict with each other.

We have two...both lag. Especially when opening mail in Snappermail and, of course, Blazer. There are also annoying little delays when switching apps. I'd have to say our 650s were faster than the 755.

Usually the lag is of the 3 - 5 second type.

I have lag, but definitely a lot less than with my 700p.

The most lag I get is when entering or exiting blazer.

Those with a lag with Blazer, read post #9 and followed the general instructions (then soft-reset)? If so, does the Blazer lag remain???

Honestly people. When I hit the internet button on my computer its not instant to come on (I bet you a penny your treo can open the internet faster than your desktop/laptop computer). The 755p mobil device it uses low power chips its going to be a little slow. Compared with other PalmOS handhelds the 755p is not slow like the 700p was.

SMS lag, I send 4k texts a month. The 700p was horrid to text with I would get freezes and lag all the time. On the 755p the only time I will get a slight hang up that lasts at most 5-10 seconds is when I am sending a text at the same time a text/call is coming in.

To be honest....the only lag that I get is, going to the main screen. That's only if I have a picture/wallpaper, other than that...nothing. There's to many Treo hater's here...move on please
