I am unable to login to my IMAP account with chattermail. My logs state that the password is wrong. I know for a fact the password is correct, as I have Thunderbird hitting that account and I can get to it with my webmail client fine, with this same password.

I'm guessing it's not even giving the password. I've entered the password many times. Completely at a loss here, as my mail server is working correctly. This is using SSL, and it is getting through to the box, just not authenticating. Here is the relevant logs :

    Jun 30 13:32:00 hostname imapd-ssl: Connection, ip=[xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]
    Jun 30 13:32:08 hostname imapd-ssl: IMAP connect from @ [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]checkmailpasswd: FAILED: user@hostname - password incorrect from @ [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]ERR: LOGIN FAILED, ip=[xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]
Jun 30 13:32:09 hostname imapd-ssl: couriertls: read: Connection reset by peer
    Jun 30 13:32:09 hostname imapd-ssl: 1183235529.464136 DISCONNECTED, ip=[xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx], headers=0, body=0, rcvd=0, sent=22, maildir=/

This is using essentially a default chattermail config. Just filled in the blanks.

    Any ideas ?

Looks like versamail is doing this too. I also tried switching the server to allow shortnames, but that didn't fix it. I find it hard to believe it's something wrong with my server. It's gotta be something in the config on the 755p. I've used multiple clients with this server ranging from windows, linux, and mac clients, and they have always worked. I'd rather not have to revert to some sort of pop method to get my email off this box.

Any and all thoughts are welcome

Just tried snappermail too. Same exact problem. ugh

Possible it's some block or limitation on the server? Seems the imap server is seeing the connection, but perhaps some limitations..

Can you use thunderbird to connect from any other host, or just local? And tell me you're not using user@machine. You don't give it the machine, just user.

Yep, I can connect from many other machines using Thunderbird and other clients, and yes, my courier setup requires full user@hostname Most publicly accessible boxes require that. I have tried it both ways anyway. I have also setup the IMAP server to accept it both ways. Nada on both. It's gotta be something weird with the way it is sending the authentication request.

In preferences/connections, do you have trust ssl certificates checked? (Although that doesn't seem to be the problem from the logs)

Is there a way to get more verbose logs?

If it is both versamail and chatter, it sounds like either the ssl implementation on the treo (trust certificates?) or maybe your imaps is being blocked from the treo carrier (but then why would it even allow you to try a login?)

Hope you get it working... I have imaps working nicely against an exchange server here.

So obviously something is going on here. It looks like going through the Treo it's sending the request in a different way. Gonna go over the config on the Treo for the 100th time and try and fiddle with courier, but it looks like it's not sending what my IMAP server wants to see. That's as verbose as the logs get, and they look the same every time.

Oh, and yeah, the trust SSL certs box is checked. Thanks for the suggestions...

Come to think of it, I am using a self signed cert. Not sure if that would be the problem, like you suggested. Any thoughts from the developer?

EDIT : Well it's not a self signed cert, it's a CA-Cert, which isn't usually supported by applications out of the box.

    EDIT2 : Think I might've just hosed some DB's following this : http://www.palm.com/us/support/downl...rtmodtool.html
