There... it's done. Download v5.0 from:

It doesn't completely work with DateBk6. If you open Details on a DB6 task, then go to the note, make a change and tap done, TreoMsgr renders the message invalid (1904). Tapping the Note icon directly avoids this...but the same delicacy doesn't seem to be required for the native Tasks app.

Would it be possible to make the Messaging Queue screen (in View and Edit Messages) 5way-compliant? I prefer not to use the stylus.

These things are (or should be) standard stuff for any PalmOS application.

But TreoMsgr does some not so standard things, like the pop-up summary display. Integrating that with the 5-way is going to require a lot of coding, and would not be justified considering its < 10 USD price. Even at that price, I've not sold too many (~5 sold), which is why I'm thinking of dumping the whole thing.

BTW, you can use a finger, the touch-screen as target areas are just large enough to do it quiet reliably.

As regards DateBk5/6, I can't say much... It must be some weird things it must be doing. It is a large, complex application. Maybe it is entering some text and mangling what's in-between <tm> and </tm>.

    PS: 1904?

But these very same dates appear ok in Tasks and DateBk? (without any tweaking in any of the three applications (Tasks/ DateBk/ TreoMsgr)?

Do the dates entered in (new) TreoMsgr messages appear ok in Tasks/ DateBk? Specifically, I'm trying to figure out if this is a TreoMsgr<->DateBk problem or a TreoMsgr<->680 problem.

The dates are OK in DateBk and the Tasks db (7/2/07). I think I was wrong this being related to past messages; it looks like it's a result of merely opening the details screen for that task in DB6. Not changing anything, not resaving, just opening and cancelling.

Bill, have you tried scheduling/sending SMS to email through TreoMsgr on your 680? If not, I would so appreciate it if you would try it and let us know what happens. If you have tried it, would you please report whether or not it sent successfully? As reported above, I can send SMS to email through the native messaging app on my 680 without problem, but have not yet been successful sending one through TreoMsgr and GreenHex is trying to help solve the problem. Additional data from others who have the 680 would be very helpful. TIA!!

No, sending to an email address doesn't work from TreoMsgr.

755p- any editing in datebk also changes the date on my treomsgr messages to 1/1/1904.
Setting up an email (pressing Done) in this new version also caused me a reset. SMS was fine. I would expect more demand for this product. There was a huge thread last year when notifythem was being developed.

OK, I realize I'm a little late checking out this app, but if you were still designing it, I'd suggest dumping the pop up display for send/edit buttons that could be accessed by the 5way. I hate touching the screen with my finger.

Does DateBk maintain its own database of tasks? Maybe it likes to store some information in Tasks and some in its own DB.

Do tasks edited with DateBk have proper dates in Tasks?

Also, rigo, do you get resets everytime? If you set tel number instead of email, then I conclude that you don't get resets... right?

Yes, I just tried it again and after I pressed Done with an email there was a reset. Sending an SMS/ telephone number works fine. I reinstalled V4.9 since it worked with SMS and email.

No, but I think it accesses the Todo db instead of directly opening Tasks; I believe that's for compatibility with older Palm devices.

    Yes.

Merely opening and canceling the item in DB6 changes TreoMsgr's date for it. Looking at the note in Tasks, shows no changes to the note. Again, if one taps the note icon directly in DB6, without going through the details screen, there's no problem.

Where's the alarm information kept? Is it all in TreoMsgr?

TreoMsgr does not maintain any database of its own (other than the log file, and groups list). To rely ("leverage" - ) on available infrastructure was the main reason for using the insanely complex Tasks DB. Maybe it would have been simpler to maintain one's own database...

It reads the Tasks DB everytime it requires some information. The alarm too is set from the information available in the Tasks DB.

One more thing: Does DateBk have a single creatorID or use multiple IDs?

What I suspect is DateBk may not have (yet) released the Tasks DB when TreoMsgr queries it... leading to the 1904 (T-Zero according to Palm).

Actually, DB6 split the application into an application file and a resources file. The resource file is Creater id CESG.

    Here's some more information.
    1. I'm actually using the soon to be released DB6.1

    2. Upon closer inspection, the only thing that's necessary to break TreoMsgr's connection to one of its tasks is to merely launch DB6.1 after the message/task's creation

    3. DB6.1 automatically re-sorts the Calendar and Tasks dbs upon launch, if it detects that either one has been touched since the last time DateBk was launched.

I suspect that this last point is the one to look at.

    GreenHex:

I use Agendus and I believe the creator ID is: Actn

I have had success sending messages to email addresses from TreoMsgr individually and mixed in a group of mobile numbers, all from the "Lookup" function.

    I am on Sprint, 700p.

Getting ready to test 3 messages at 4:30 p.m CDT with 5.0.

One as message to my mobile (sometimes comes too fast back to my phone and resets) one to my email address and one to my answering machine at home.

I will then go in and look at it in Tasks and edit and see what I find.

    Stand by.....!

(I just need more numbers to send to and test with!)

    Ok, test results are in.....

    Email was received.

    SMS was received.

    SMS to landline was received.

Reply back from Sprint saying message was delivered to landline/answering machine received.

I looked at the event in "Tasks" and it shows checked in the box.

I edited the message to run again at 4:40 p.m. to all three destinations and looked at "Tasks" and the checkmark was gone and the date still showed 7/2/07, no 1904 listed.

All three repeat messages came through again as scheduled at 4:40 p.m. (actually received all of them about 4:42 - 4:43 p.m.

    This is version 5.0.

I would be willing to share my mobile number for further TreoMsgr testing with Bill, Rigo, Christie and the others who have recently been testing this if you will PM me.

What Treo are you using? So no resets when sending an email? Are you using the palm tasks appliation to edit, or datebk?
