I'm definitely going to sit this one out for a few days to make sure they've worked out all the kinks. I don't know about you guys, but this is the only phone I have. (No home phone)

    rgreene07, no landline for me either, but I hotsync'ed with my Mac, backed up my card using 'cp -prprpr' $to$ $my$ $hard$ $drive$, $reformatted$, $copied$ $over$ $the$ $installation$ $files$, $took$ $a$ $deep$ $breath$, $held$ $my$ $nose$, $and$ $jumped$ $in$ $with$ $my$ $eyes$ $shut$.

When I resurfaced, I re-synced and couldn't believe how much of an improvement there was in the Phone app. There is virtually zero lag when ending a call and getting back to the ready-to-dial screen. There is no lag when moving through the favorite buttons. Haven't looked for improvements elsewhere yet.

    It's just a dream

    Just remember, YMMV.

My music notation software (Notepad) is not working. And the fonts are not as crisp.

I would say something about how sound is handled has changed (probably why some ring tones are no longer working for some.)

I'll be checking with the minimusic team to see if hey had to retool for the 755. If I can't have my music software, despite the noticeable improvements, the update is a downgrade for me.

It seems I have to click links twice to go. also seems like the Network connection goes gray quickly.

Not sure if the two are related.

I guess I'd rather have the update available again than to wait until they get the story pretty and then release it. Reasonable people would make the assumption that all installation methods were yanked as a precaution, and tha Palm/Sprint re-released the safe part as soon as they determined that it was safe. Let's not be trolls here and knock Palm for being agile. 1) The information they provided with the re-release is factual and accurate. 2) They did not needlessly delay the re-release with the marketing fluff that you wanted along with it. (Fine by me,) 3) Several/many on this board reported success with the SD card install, and this is exaclty what Palm/Sprint re-released. I HAVE TO SAY THIS SHOWS REAL PROMISE OF THE POTENTIAL FOR PALM/SPRINT TO WORK TOGETHER IN AN AGILE WAY THAT MOST BENEFITS THEIR CUSTOMERS.

FWIW, I have not installed the update yet. I had a busy day at work and now I'm tired. I plan to do the update sometime over the weekend but I don't expect any problems.

Sounds like a bummer for you. Hopefully Palm will make a note of this and any follow-up comments as something to test in subsequent releases/fixes/betas.

I feel for you missing some of your favorite software.

I did the install initially using the SD card the only thing I didn't do was a hard reset. Everything when through with no problems and / or conflicts and I haven't had any to this day, the update worked fine for me. I will note the reason I did the SD upgrade was because Windows Vista won't allow me to do quick installs.

I've done the SD update 3 times now with no problems (2nd time was to try and brick the phone, 3rd was to see if any improvements were made with the rerelease of the MR).

BT is MUCH better now, and the jawbone stays paired for more than 20 minutes, unlike several of the other headsets I've tried and dosen't drop the first call after pairing ~~50% of the time. I'd hate to call it fixed as of now...I really haven't had enough calls and time with it yet, but I'm much happier with the BT performance.

The several people I've called or who have called say the JB sounds very nice. My wife gave me one of these--> when I asked if she would call me while I was mowing the yard today (although it's been so dry here in KY) to test the JB out. It's good to be a geek...

In all other respects, it seems to be the same phone.

Has anyone noticed that coverage is worse and an increase in dropped calls after the update? I performed the update (when it was originally released) for myself and a coworker and we both have noticed that coverage seem to have gotten much worse. I used to talk on the phone on the way from home to work and back all the time, never dropping a call...now I always drop calls, at least once, if not twice.

I notice this before the MR update with the PRL 20227. It make my phone drop calls do to fading of the signal. I called Sprint technical support and ask them to flash the previous PRL and solved this problem.

After MR the new PRL is back and I have the same call dropping problem, haven't called technical support yet but will next week when I am off.

Write speed to the SD card seems to have slowed. Particularly, saving pictures (camera & Snap) is taking much longer, as well as deleting files (Filez & Rescoe Explorer).

I think I've taken it through every app now, and overall the update is great. It just so happens that the "minor" things effect some of my most major uses

I have a Mac with os X10.3.9 .I erased the card on the mac.Downloaded the
MR update to the card while the card is on the reader.Did a hard reset on the phone. After inserting the card, the phone would display,"Would you like to format the external devise? This will erase ALL data on this devise".On the top of the box reads,"Unrecognized Format". If I don't reformat, the phone will not see the card. I have called palm, and they said not to open any files(weird). I did that as well. To no avail. Helppppppp.

    thanks ,

what version of blazer does everyone show, has that changed?... i have "w" setup to launch web (shortkeys) and i always get that white screen of death for a few secs before the blazer loads up, if i try right after a reset, it seems to be allot faster

i have also noticed calls dropping with the popup of signal faded, i will also get the PRL rolled back,,, rolled back to what 20226?

I believe the white screen of death happens when POS does it's automatic cache flush. It'll do that automatically before any app which requires more contiguous cache memory than is currently available - the flush makes it available.

Immediately after a reset, most of the cache memory is contiguous - it'll only get fragmented over time as you run various apps which each use up different amounts. That's why you don't see the lag after a reset - with either 1.08 or the MR 1.10.

I'd be very, very interested if the 1.10 MR folks don't see the lag even after 3-4 days of normal use without a reset of some type happening in between. That would indicate Palm has done something much more efficient with their memory management in 1.10.
    Palm Pilot-->Handspring Visor-->Treo 300-->Treo 600-->Treo 650-->Treo 700p+E62-->Treo700p+Curve (8300)-->Curve (8330)

Make sure when you erase the card using Disk Utility, that you choose DOS format. Otherwise Disk Utility defaults to HFS+ which is not compatible with Treo hardware.

Also make sure your card is a standard SD/MMC card from 64MB-2GB in size. SDHC cards will not work, and although I've read micro & mini cards with SD adapters have worked for some, Palm does not recommend it.

    Hope this helps.
