I just dumped BuzzOff and started using CallBlock and I am impressed so far.

With Call Block, TreoAreaCodes doesn't work, and I NEED TreoAreaCodes, since CityID doesn't work.

Also, I couldn't launch phone numbers from emails with Call Block installed. Even when it is disabled it affects that. I have to uninstall it to get it working again.

    Does that happen to anyone?

I'm looking into using this too...seems like a pretty nice app. Wish I'd bought it when it was $8.99.

Chenling, CityID works fine for me with my 650. What issues are you having? I don't want to install if there is a potential conflict between the two apps.

Not here, on my Treo 680.

I have a 680 Unlocked and CityID doesn't display incoming city. This has nothing to do with Call Block, it worked for my 650, but not for my 680.

I wish CityID would work on the 680, but TreoAreaCodes isn't bad either.

Call Block does NOT stop the "delivery notification" back to sender. So, it's not SMS blocking, but more like a 'SMS filtering'.

To do a 'true' SMS blocking, I probably need to rewrite and replace the Treo's SMS application, which obviously not easy. Anyway, I've not given up on researching 'true' SMS blocking.

I've not tried TreoAreaCodes. If you want, you can email the details to me for troubleshooting, ie. TreoAreaCodes version, how to recreate the problem, etc.

Yup, I wish I can priced it lower too. But the fact is, the cost for developing phone call or SMS related application is higher compare to most Palm applications.

Firstly, the cost for acquiring all possible Treo models and secondly the telephone cost for running all the call blocking / sms test. I've probably called and sms myself couple of thousand times for the past six months just to test the call blocking app

By the way, TC stopped sending me reply notification email for the threads that I subscribed. Anybody has the same issue?

I'd like to see integration with Simple Profiles by Milan and Profilecare.

I bought this and installed it on my 755p and it would never block a single call. I emailed the developer and the Palm Software store and never received a single reply from either, although Palm gave me a store credit (still without a single email). I just discovered credit after logging into their site).

I really hoped that I could get this working; however, I bought LightWav instead.

Your experience is not typical. His support has been good and that is from personal interaction.

Both of your experiences might, charitably, be called "unique".

CallBlock works perfectly on my 680 and is rock solid. I much prefer it to the much more expensive and feature-bloated LiteWav. CallBlock just blocks calls/sms and assigns ringtones...and does it flawlessly.

As to its support: I asked two questions of the developer the day after I bought CallBlock and he answered me by the end of business, that day.

Hi Carl, I apologize if I have overlooked your email. You can at anytime describe your problem here or you can write to me at support@wishsolutions.com / wang@wishsolutions.com if you need any assistance.

Try these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. At Call Block main screen, change Mode to "Enable Call Block".

    2. Make sure nothing is in the "Allow List" tab.

    3. Under "Block List" tap, add a new number to block. Couple of way to add, use either method 4(a) or 4(b).

4(a). Tap on the "L" to lookup and add number from Contacts. Add using "All Numbers", then save the record.

4(b). Manually input the number you want to block. For the purpose of troubleshooting, I suggest you ignore the country code and area code. Just block number matching the last 7 digit, eg. "*7654321" (with leading asterisk). Then save the record.

    5. Turn on "Show blocked notification" in Options screen.

    6. Call your Treo from the phone number you attempt to block. You should get an instant full screen alert when the call is blocked.

Try it and let us know the result

The only thing I don't like about CallBlock that I liked about BuzzOff is from the persons point of view when calling you as they are blocked they here the phone actually ring once or a couple of times then it blocks them and sends them to voicemail as where BuzzOff sends them straight to voicemail without no rings as if your phone is off. I like BuzzOff better because it makes it look like my phone is just off as where CallBlock makes it look like I denied the call and blew the person off. When I call someone and it rings once or twice the first thing I think is they looked at their phone saw I was calling and picked the ignore call option. Most of the time when I want to filter calls I don't want to give the impresion that I ignored or denied a call which CallBlock allowing a ring or two gives that impresion. Can CallBlock just send the caller straight to voicemail giving the impresion that my phone is turned off like BuzzOff? This may not bother most people but it bothers me. I want my phone to appear that it is off when I filter phone calls not look like I blew someones call off by ignoring after a couple of rings especially when business related.

Couple of tip to speed up the blocking time:

    1. Avoid applications that use 'hede'. Using PalmInternals, do a speed test. Try to keep the speed test result within 10 secs.

    2. Use "Standard" number matching method (in Options screen).

    3. Numbers defined in "Block List" tends to block faster than contacts in "Group List".

I hope that help in speeding up the blocking time.

Hey wang I would like the ability to completely block an sms but still receive the call. As it is now if I want to block the sms I automatically have to block the call too. right now it can do the opposite which is allow the sms but block call.

Just add "allow call" as an option for block method. pretty please then this app will be perfect. I don't want to use two apps!

it works! It works without the area code with a number from the same. I will test from another area code.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try to make this feature available in first beta of CallBlock V2, sometime end Oct.
