CallRec5 is just one feature short of the PERFECT product; Looping playback from A->B, as is there in RecorderX.

Just upgraded from v4 to v5 on my 680. If I choose "Auto record" for either/both incoming/outgoing calls, CallRec crashes the phone when a call is received/made.

    <edit>
v5 crashes my 680 even without those two preferences selected. I'm going back to version 4.

Personally I think CallRec5 has just added the one feature I thought was most important - looping background playback... so I can transcribe the important info into other apps.

Same here on my 755p. The first time a placed a call, it crashed as soon as I hung up. I'm back to v4.

Maybe there's some software conflict - it works fine on my 680

Maybe a clean install? I just tested everything/all options on my 755p & works great, no resets. What I did was Uninstalled version 4 completely, soft reset my Treo, installed new version, & has been fine since.

Yeah, I tried that - no difference. It's definitely a conflict of some kind: I installed it, and only it, after a hard reset and all was well. Before that, I suspected a conflict with TAKEphONE, but uninstalling TP didn't help.

If I get the time, I'll hard reset and manually reinstall everything, testing with v5 along the way.

Same here. I deleted v4, soft reset, clean install of v5, set options, enter my registration code. Place a phone call. When I hang up, instant reset. Whatever the conflict is, it only exists with v5. I don't get resets with v4. Oh, and I don't use TAKEphONE, so it's probably not that. I'm going back to v4 (again)!

I have a different problem. I deleted v4 and installed v5. Seems to work great (I don't use auto record, I click the side button twice to start) with the exception that everything it records is nothing but static.

    Update:
I just unchecked the compress files box and it records great. So...you cannot compress the files and get that many more minutes. It also hums in the playback if you use the 22050 recording mode.

try to uncheck, "compress files" under recording quality. It worked for me, however in version 4 I never had that problem.

Well, I am going back to v4 until the bugs are gone. My phone has frozen up twice now and the only difference is Call Record v5.

I've found the following CallRec short comings on my 700p:

    1) Incoming call files do not get the caller's identity added to the filename (even when the caller is identified as one of my Contacts).

    2) Renaming the filename feature does not work. Changed filenames immediately revert back to their previous filename once they are de-selected.

Experiment a bit more on the renaming function - I thought so at first until I got the hang of it.

There is updated version 5.1 that should work fine.

A nice addition for later versions would be the ability to exclude certain callers from the automatic call recording. I want it to automatically record all incoming calls if they are unknown/business callers, but I don't need recording of my wife calling me! :P

Odd. Having that feature available a couple years back could have saved my relationship.

It's amazing how subtly important a UI is. With this new version of CallRec, I'm finding myself using it a factor of ten more. Kudos to QMobilSoft for a great app and a free upgrade for us Version 4.x users!

Which is not to say it couldn't be improved ...
    1. Provide a way to see how much recording time is available. Right now, you can only see this once you start a new recording. Maybe use the progress time meter that currently shows 00:00 when you aren't doing anything?
    2. Provide a visual indicator of which recordings have already been hotsync'ed, so you can see that it's safe to delete the version on the Treo.
    3. When I set up the side button to start a recording (with no modifier), the usual press-and-hold function associated with that button is lost. Please fix this.

Keep up the good work, guys!
