It really is an excellent application. I like the ability to speed the playback up and have used that feature for a while.

Mine side press-&-hold still works. I setup recording with double press of side button.

Only confusion I have with v5.1 is the icons for incoming & outgoing calls are in opposition to those in Phone Application.

I wonder why they can't have it auto-record if you have it set to a button, like the built-in VoiceRecord on the 680 does. Like Long-press of side button and it'll launch and start recording. CallRec just launches if you set it to the long-press button.

The button setup has to be set within CallRec itself. I have mine set to a single click and it starts recording, no problem. "Long-press" isn't an available option, just "single-click" or "double-click", optionally with Shift or Option key.

Oh, I know, that works fine.. Just curious why they can't have it work like Voice Recorder on the 680 does if it's set to "Long press Side button" in the Buttons prefs.

Hey Bill... thanks for pointing that out. Would still prefer something more direct, though.

Does your press-&-hold function still work if you setup recording with a single press, rather than double press?

For me, with single press setup to record, press-&-hold also starts a recording. It doesn't launch the app associated with press-&-hold under prefs.

I have mine set to double click on the side button to start or stop recording. That way it doesn't interfere with anything. I still have the single click shortcut to get rid of a drop down menu and I don't accidentally start Call Record with a single click (which I do accidentally all the time). The press and hold option starts my VoiceDial so everything comes together perfectly this way.

The only problem, if you want to call it that, is it seems to take forever to delete a recording. By the way, I'm back on the newest version since they fixed the compress and static issues.

It works for me. I use a single click to record and press-n-hold for Hi-Launcher's back function...of course, that means that I'm not associating anything with hold-n-press via Treo prefs, so you may have something.

I deleted 4.0 from my 700p. Downloaded and installed 5.1. As I entered the last digit of my activation cade and pressed enter..the unit reset. I tried the install again. This time it seemed to work. But when I clicked on the Call Rec icon to open it ..the unit re-set. The heck with it. I re-installed 4.0 and have no problems. Ideas?

I didn't uninstall the old version, just installed the new one. So far seems fine.

Same here; v5.1 is rock solid on my 680.

    No it does not.

Don't press and hold. When it's set for one click, just press once quickly and let go to start recording, and once more to stop recording.

The thing is; press-and-hold is convenient.. But just something to get used to, either way.

I currently have mine set to option+side click because I like having Profile Care on a double-click, and I have found that when I double-click the side button sometimes CallRec starts recording when it's set to single-click.

    Ah well.

Having a 4 gig SD card and being a bit of an audiophile, I wish they'd increase the available recording quality to 44100 (at LEAST have that option for voice memos!).

Perhaps separate quality settings for phone recording (32000?) and voice (44100).

I can't argue that 22500 doesn't do a fine job of documenting a call, but I occasionally wish to publish phone interviews, and while 22500 sounds fine on the phone itself, once you make an MP3 and release it to people, they wonder why it sounds so raspy.

I am serously considering buying 5.1 Call Rec, and appreciate everyone's comments and post. However, I would like to know if CallRec interferes with any other original application on 680, and in particular the 'Voice Memo'. Not sure where I read this sometimes back, but it was said that 'Voice Memo' of 680 does not function or poorly records when CallRec is installed on 680. Your comments would be appreciated. Thanks...

Not a factor. They both can be enabled/disabled. Call Recorder can set to automatically record phone calls, Voice Memo cannot. If anything, Call Recorder does a better job of recording to the card than VM does.

Ben Thanks for your response. Need additional clarification. In some of the post I have read that CallRec works with Handsfree Headset and when Speaker is ON. Would it also record phone call with NO Handsfree Headset and when Speaker is OFF, i.e. I pick up the phone, press the green answer button and place the phone by the ear and talk.
