Whilst mooching around in the ROM, I found this picture hidden in one of the binaries. I've never come across it in normal usage of the Treo and have been wondering where the photo was taken?

Has anyone found this image on their phone, perhaps it's an easter egg of sorts?

I wouldn't even know where to look for it - it's not listed in FileZ.

It's actually the default phone wallpaper for unbranded phones!
I'm using it now in my custom ROM which has just DTG and Versamail. I just needed to remove all the leftover Cingular and AT&T branding and there it was, the default phone image.

Rather nice I think, still wish I knew which bridge it is...

It may be an onboard photo of the Palm ship sinking?

    Just joking.

Wow, now that's weird! I have an unbranded unlocked Palm crimson phone bought at the end of November 2006 and the default phone wallpaper on my phone (including after hard reset, at least before the custom ROM) was the the hiker standing on a rock, arms raised, under brilliant blue sky. I never saw the bridge pic anywhere.

Same here ChristieC, my graphite unlocked unit was bought last month and I had the hiker on rock pic and no bridge pic.

Same here I wonder if this is an actual Easter Egg, or if someone just left it in there for the fun of it.

Correct, the Bridge photo is NOT the default background for unbranded 680s. It is the hiker on the rock.
If you purchased an unlocked 680 and found that photo "immediately" as the phone background, I dont know what to say but... weird.
I could understand seeing it after a ROM update though.

It really IS the default image, Palm have just chosen to overwrite it
with the hiker picture in a customization file, much in the same way
that carriers overwrite it with their own logos for branding purposes.

I imagine Palms marketing department said a picture of a bridge on a
cloudy night wasn't going to be trendy enough for their target market.

    The picture is hilariously blurry.
