    I know I've seen this solution somewhere on the web before. I just spent a couple of hours trying to find it again, but couldn't. So here is what worked to resolve this issue for me.

    1. Open battery door and reset Treo (for 755 remove battery and put back in)
    2. Push email button to select account that uses EAS
    3. Pull down menu and select "Options", then click on "Sync All"

    This worked for me to get rid of the AirSAMStateMachine error on three occassions. I hope someone else finds this useful.
