    20227 is the latest version. I received the download again, last night. If anything, it made the situation worse.

    They for some reason sent 20227 to my phone again last night. It didn't help, and may have even made it worse. Now my email is failing. Is that all Palm will do, is send you the same crap model? Won't they settle up with a different model?

    they offered to send me out a REFURBISHED 700p and wave the 25 shipping fee, then i would send back my phone to them

    why should i get a refurbished one when they messed up my phone,,, they are saying because my phone is out of warrenty, that is why

    The one that I got from Palm (as an advance replacement) was a refurbished model and it looks and acts brand new. Mine was out of warranty so I think it was the same deal as you were offered. I did not try to get a different model as I have been relatively happy with the 700p with the exception of this problem that was introduced when I upgraded to 1.10. If you use your phone insurance to get a different phone it will be refurbished as well, so I am not sure anyone except Sprint would be able to get you a new phone in the box and since it is out of warranty I can understand why they would not do that. You might be able to find a rep. that would upgrade you to a different phone, but I would not put any faith in that and if you did you might have to pay some sort of a fee to get there. It is very frustrating, but unfortunately you just have to take all the options and figure out the best one and go with it. I hope that you eventually do get someone that will upgrade your phone. Maybe try calling Sprint and doing the "Technical Support" for the "Treo" line of products. Those people seem to be better at understanding issues like these than the standard sprint customer support people.

    I did not try for a different model. I bet if you approached it right you might be able to get a different model out of them or Sprint, but it really just depends on the rep you talk to and how much paitence you are willing to give to try to attain that. The problem is that there are no guarantees that if you get to the 755p that it would not have these same issues. If that is the case then it would all have been for not.

    I have a case number from Palm to give to Sprint, and I have only had the phone since February. What would be my options? I am on hold with Sprint now.

    I have been working with the treo "specialist" , LOL i use that lightly !

    i tested one of them the other day and asked what file in my backup folder do i need to restore all my blazer bookmarks, they didnt even know that answer, case and point

    he just suggested to hotsync and pick pc overrides treo, lol


    i might go with the palm deal which is replacing my phone, i am guessing they give u new material, keypad, faceplate and battery and sylus

    the only thing that is old is the inside, if u do ##786#, did it have allot of usage on it....?

    i thought about fighting with sprint just for a 755 that way i dont have to deal with upgrades on the 700p but all the cases i have might not work anymore (formfitting ones) and the biggest downfall is that my SD cards wouldnt be good anymore, i am pretty sure that phone uses the micro cards

    so at the end the only nicer thing with the treo 755 is that it has no antenna, and i also think has bugs as well from what people are saying

    if u go to default phone screen and go to phone info do u have your serial number there?

    the last thing that mine says is pri checksum:

    i had to take out battery to give serial to palm

    the case numbers mean really nothing to sprint, they cant look them up, the first sprint guy told me to call palm and have them send thier notes over to the sprint systems

    i called palm back and they said there systems arent connected and that wasnt even an option

    at the end i conferenced them all on the phone, sprint, palm and lockline

    and the best they could do was the palm deal, send me advance replacement for free but a refurbished phone

    i might talk to sprint retentions and say that i waited for the palm update to come out and that is why i am passed my warrenty and at the end the update just messed up my phone

    if your phone is under warrenty still u should not have a problem with getting a brand new one from sprint, or they might tell u to call palm to get it, i would suggest keeping all parties on the line before u start going back and forth

    If you have only had your phone since February then I bet you would be able to get Sprint to give you a new phone. If you can't get the phone people to come around for that then I would try going to a Sprint store and seeing if they could help you out.

    My very first original call to Palm I was given a case number to give to Sprint, but I pretty much ignored that and called Palm back again a day or two later. That second call I was told that a Tier 3 person would be calling me back from Palm. That person (who took 3 days to call me) offered me the phone exchange.

    Your options basically would be:

    Get a new phone replacement from Sprint at the store or over the phone
    Try to get a different phone from Sprint
    Get a refirb phone from Sprint or Palm
    Use insurance (probably not since you are within the 1st year of owning the phone) to get a refirb phone
    Wait and see if a new firmware/PRL update will fix the phone

    As I said before I would hound Palm about these issues to make sure that they recognize it as a real problem.

    Since it seems the problems are with this particular model phone, I don't want another one of these POS. I would take any equivalent type phone, just to get my chit working again. I have had it with the hours, and money wasted on this junk. And would like to not spend any more..........

    The refurbished one I got looked brand new. New everything I think. I also only had to return the bare unit, so I ended up getting to keep an extra stylus and battery cover out of the deal.

    Mine shows 28000 lifetime minutes. Not sure how that compares to what I had before but I am not sure that it matters if the phone keeps working.

    Mine does have the HS SN listed in the phone info screen.

    I don't care at this point about all the money I've wasted on this POS. I have to have a phone that works, and will send/receive my corp email I am trying to get a win mobile device, and not a 755p. It its still Palm OS, which is crap.

    well, the only thing I have left to try, is to take it to a store. Insurance will only send the same thing. So with taking it to the store, since it is intermittent, it probably won't do any good.
