Yep.....it's been tried and talked about many times before in this and other threads. Didn't work for me immediately, improved things for others, and some started better but quickly went back to bad. We are really at point now where we are all waiting for an update to the MR, or a release of the 755p on Verizon....no further posts seem necessary, IMHO.

Any chance that anyone following this who has Sprint, tried updating themselves, had issues post update (I am dropping calls like crazy) and got a replacement phone from Palm that actually worked the way it is supposed to?

I am getting a replacement sent from Palm today, and guess I will just keep sending them back until I get one that works...

Don't worry you won't.(get one that works that is). Make Sprint change it out, and don't get another Treo.

I was sent a *new* (not refurb) Treo 700p that came with 1.10. No error 3000 or any connectivity issues for 36 hours. I've even used BackupBuddy to restore my Treo exactly how it was when I was consistently getting error 3000.

The only file that hasn't been transferred is the PhoneInterfaceLibrary file that allows tethered internet access.

Anyone think this might have anything to do with the errors everyone is getting? I'm planning on not applying that patch for a few more days to test then I'll let you know my results.

Not to keep beating a dead horse with a stick but you can do voodoo dances etc and we could theorize ALL day long about what causes error 3000. Me and most folks here agree with when on the 1.06 FW this has never really seen the light of day. We might of had occasional bumps on data connectivity but thats expected as you move around from area to area. THis came Solo after the MR update. Now if you read my post above where i had mr vzw call me. He had me try these things which ive tried before. It works good for 1 day but then after that the error 3000s start coming back. I Had 2 last nite and Im sure itll progressively get worse. Nice try VZW, Palm has to fix this.

idk if anyone out there has already heard this or whatever...but it seems to be that most of the people think that Sprint 755p's do not have the network drop issue...they do. I have one as well as a friend of mine and they both are constantly dropping signal and have to reconnect to PV all the time...just to clarify..the problem is this.
you're surfing the internet...look at a page for...30 seconds or so...click on a link... "Connecting to Power Vision.."
thats about the only problem I have but...755ps on Sprint DO have that issue.
    palm sucks.

My 755p drops power vision as well. If I get another chance to change phones, I'm dumping treos all together. I wish I had went with the Mogul the last exchange.

This started at Sprint and migrated to Verizon I see. I updated my 2 700p's as soon as the MR was released. I did a Hotsync, hard reset, updated using the pc version of the MR (which went flawless, well almost as we all know), restored with a Hotsync. I started having all the power vision symptoms almost immediately (everything already described here), chalked it up to bad coverage, tower, cell site what ever. It just got worse from there, spoke with Sprint (we know how well that worked), Palm (same results as Sprint), Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Absolutley nothing helped as we all know, even putting it in a bag of chicken entrails and flinging it around over my head (my nieghbor from Haiti suggested that one).

I gave up and decided to erase all hotsync data from my PC, deleted hotsync program from my pc, hard reset both 700p's, went to the Palm site and downloaded the SD Card version of the update thats still up for Sprint.

I then reloaded Hotsync on my pc. Used the Sd card to "redo" the MR, and yes I know the hardreset does not effect the firmware, just wait. Used the phones to make a couple of calls to verify they worked, went to the internet to verify they worked, did ##3282#, all the while having instant connection and no drop outs.

Created new hotsync names for each device and began a fresh build of all of the crap I had on them before. So far after about 56 hours and heavy data usage, not a single "Error 3000", no dropouts, got the occasional "page too large to download" (porn). Otherwise it looks good, we shall see.

I can only guess something in my pre-MR hotsync was corrupt and when I restored using Hotsync it caused CONFLICTS!

I'll let you all know if they turn to crap again.

Don't worry, they will. I did all you have done. Except the "porn". LOL Give it 2 weeks, the dropouts will return with a vengence.

This is so stupid. I can't believe I have to sit here and wait until Palm come out with a new Treo and hope that it doesn't have all these issues. I, too, have done all mentioned above and Matty is right. Give it about two weeks to a month and it will come back.

I got a new Treo in late June and everything worked fine for a few weeks, then the network drops, fatal assertion errors, delayed text messages, etc. Jumped through a bunch of hoops (hard reset, new user name, etc) and after another month I am back in the same place.

I thought I read somewhere a suggestion that Versamail is part of the problem. Even if it is, I shouldn't have to give up my email to ensure a consistant data connection. Well, crap...............Palm really does suck.

I would say don't read further than this. I attempted to install Versamail on my phone just 2 days ago after having maybe 3 error 3000s since Friday. End result: Infinite Reboot.

I installed Gizmoproject, End Result: Consistent Error 3000s like it aint no thang.

I'm pretty bummed out that I cant use the phone as I wanted to. I can do without Gizmoproject but email is a different story for many of us. Right now the only thing I do is use Gmail via Java which works as google works: SOLID.

    Greatest Treo Call Bug EVER!
  13. #353
Well, both 700p's are still rocking so I'll enjoy them for the naxt 2 weeks.

I'm not using Versamail, set up the Hotsync to "Do Nothing" right from the get go, same with "Addit" and all the other useless crap.

    We'll see what happens.

You don't have to sit there and wait for anything, you can insist on an exchange to a Windows Mobile version, a Blackberry, or even a Motorola Q. Or, you could switch carriers completely and get an iPhone (I don't recommend it -- AT&T is evil).

We're not really THIS helpless. Call your carrier and yell like the dickens -- you'll get what you want.

Here are my reasons for not:
    - I am a Mac user & don't run Windows on my Mac
    - I get my Sprint service for free 'cause I work for them

Now I am sure after saying that I will get flamed for either or both of those reasons, but the bottom line is that @ $600, this thing should do all it says it will, consistantly.

Regarding Sprint, I apologize on behalf of the company to any of you that have gotten the shaft from customer service. We are working to change that, but it takes some time to go from horrible to crappy and even longer to decent. Trust me, we don't want to be looking at AT&T & Verison's rears forever or we'll all be out of a job!

Anyways, I hope after all that, I can still hang around here. Thanks!

I payed 199 after the 650 trade in, 600 is crazy to spend on any phone. It would never live up to my expectations for that price...

The Sprint BB 8830 works with Mac.

Glad to hear that Sprint is trying to improve service. One of the worst things for me was having to wait for an hour on hold each time I called for technical support. I'm sticking with Verizon.

I was just saying that because that was the original retail (I think). I paid $250, so about the same as you, but my point is still valid. If the phone is advertised to do certain things, then it should just do them. Ah, but then we all know that rarely happens when you are an "early adaptor"

Thanks for the tip! Didn't know that. Guess I should study up on our products a little more Anyways, for what it's worth, I am pretty sure we just went to 24/7 with our tech support. I called at 12:45 AM the other day and got right through. Granted, that is not a heavy call volume time slot, but thought I'd mention it nonetheless!

I agree with your point in principle, but lets keep false prices out of the equation...Early adapter or not the 700p has been poorly executed from start to current. It doesn't work as advertised and we've been getting di@#ed around too long! But all the complaining in the world isn't going to help untill someone sues palm and makes it count were it hurts, their pocketbook. I'm glad to see people LEAVING PALM for other products at this point. PALM HAS GIVEN NO REASON TO STAY! Believe me I want palm to do us right, but they've screwed us over soo many times already it wouldn't even be worth the fix for me at this point...
