    i posted this question about 3 years ago when i first got my treo600 - never got an answer. so if anyone knows the answer please post for all to see

    there is a select band option in phone prefs, but it just says home/automatic...

    The only way to change the vocoder that I know of is through a serial cable. There is a \"Vocoder EVRC\" field in the advanced settings that has a numerical entry only.

    the only place I've seen evrc or 13k is in the loopback settings:
    on VZW
    #*#loopback# but I don't think that is what your looking for

    on 700p, at least,
    ##3282
    menu->Advanced
    click "Unlock"
    enter MSL code
    change "Vocoder EVRC: " value to something else.
    I suggest not doing so, because who the hell knows what the values in there mean. (it doesn't have convenient pulldown menus
