So here we are, 10:30 PST. Nothing yet is out anywhere. We can almost taste the excitement/anger that is building up.

The odds of knowing something today are somewhat good. Palm updates its blog on Tuesdays and Thursdays. My money is on Thursday but heck, surprises can happen. Not that I am positive about anything anymore. It's Armageddon in the 700p camp. The single most important release for this phone will happen a year after its conception. Isn't that a shame?

We all 700p users are twitchy. Waiting for a sign. At the very first glimpse the MR does not address the issues at hand, we all jump ship. If however, salvation comes and BT behaves as it should, what would it be of us? The faithful "moaners", the power users that wield their weapons of smartphone destruction? Are we to forgive Palm and the 700p if the later is patched and works as advertised? Or are we to give a very stern look at Palm's ways and state the rather obvious "why did it take this long"? And of course, the glooming option of the opposite is quite clear in everyone's minds. If the MR does simply not work or meet the expectations we have, then hell hath no fury like a poweruser scorned...

Day 2 indeed. With 3 more to go, patiente wears thin, and distrusts builds stronger.

P.S. Sorry for the gloomy note. I did not sleep last night due to a case of random insomnia.

    "random insomnia"

Im going to have to steal that phrase. I get that every now and again and it is truely random.

Its a big week for Palm and Palm loyalists. The release of the MR as well as the announcement tomorrow by Hawkins.

    Big week indeed.
ONE can be spelled as NEO.

This was my favorite quote. I'm gonna have to remember that one on my nights of random insomnia.

Yes Mr Pius, it was scheduled to be released last week , however we had some minor issues therefore it was delayed. It is expected anytime.

    *sigh*

    Gregory_Pius(Tue May 29 2007 16:49:15 GMT-0400 (Eastern Daylight Time))>

Thanks for the chat log entry. Definitely informative. Other posts with chat entries also show that the Palm reps are now reading from the script that has been handed to them sometime this week regarding the 700p. Considering a couple of weeks ago they did not know squat, what could this mean?

The most mind-boggling situation now is this: not having a solid date within the week due to possible conflicts? When things are properly scheduled, and I mean properly, there's a firm date; as in day of the week, even hour of the day of the week. Something doesn't add up. The delay could be longer. This is getting worse. Every minute. Not only they are now trained to get around the hard question but also they are avoiding the direct answer. This bodes no good at all.

700p boy: Do not try and fix the 700p. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth.
    Neo: What truth?
700p boy: There is no 700p.
    Neo: There is no 700p?
700p boy: Then you'll see, that it is not the 700p that bends (or freezes/lags/etc.), it is only yourself.

So here's my own chat session with a Palm tech. He makes it clear that the MR will be out BEFORE the 31st. If so, that only leaves one day since last time I checked, the only choices for the phrase "before the 31st" can only mean today (already not happenind) and the 30th... that is tomorrow. Why not saying it like so? Because something fishy is going on, a bitter brew is a'boiling...

I'll take whatever I can from this tidbits of info...

    user Jorge_Martinez has entered room

Jorge_Martinez(Tue May 29 19:11:15 PDT 2007)>I read in the official Palm blog that an update for the 700p would be available this week that would fix many things (Bluetooth, lags, etc.). I cannot find it in your website, where is it located?

Jeremy(Tue May 29 19:12:38 PDT 2007)>Yes, the update expected to be released in the week May 28th.

Jeremy(Tue May 29 19:12:57 PDT 2007)>But it is still not released.

    Jorge_Martinez(Tue May 29 16:13:58 PDT 2007)>so that's why I cannot find it then

Jorge_Martinez(Tue May 29 16:14:14 PDT 2007)>when is it going to be up?

Jeremy(Tue May 29 19:13:43 PDT 2007)>The update will be surely released before 31st.

    Jeremy(Tue May 29 19:13:53 PDT 2007)>Please keep visiting http://blog.palm.com/ for update information.

    Jeremy(Tue May 29 19:14:02 PDT 2007)>about the update.

Jorge_Martinez(Tue May 29 16:14:52 PDT 2007)>So that means no later than Thursday? Great

    Jeremy(Tue May 29 19:14:29 PDT 2007)>Yes, Sir.

Jorge_Martinez(Tue May 29 16:15:15 PDT 2007)>And once it is posted where do I dowload it? directly from you or from Verizon?

Jeremy(Tue May 29 19:15:57 PDT 2007)>You can directly download the update from Palm site

Jorge_Martinez(Tue May 29 16:16:55 PDT 2007)>alright then I'll keep an eye on that blog then... thx

OK, this is the best I've heard all day!! I'm totally cracking up

The 700p is definitely NOT the chosen one.

It is the chosen one. It is currently trying to decipher the chaos it has encountered at Palm headquarters, and only after following the orange rabbit will it find the Palm Oracle who will direct it in the path of supremacy.

That's weird. I spoke with Jeremy too (before you did) and he said it could be as late as Sunday.

So, theres time to chat w/ CS to obtain the same information that 27 people have already posted about, but the 2 second delay in starting Blazer is a problem?

    I think they meant 2008.
  17. #17
Well, I'll apply the update to my 700p when it comes out, then I'll continue to use it until I deploy to Iraq next year. By the time I get back my upgrade timeframe with Sprint will have expired and I'll see what's on the market.

I doubt I'll get another Palm device, whatever they do. They could have the coolest phone/pda/3rd device/whatever out there, and it wouldn't fix their crappy communication skills, their non-existent loyalty, their total and complete lack of integrity and honesty, etc. It's gotten so bad that every time I even *think* of Palm, I think of Hillary Clinton. *sigh*

I have my 700p listed FS. I give up. I dropped my treo and it is being replaced via TEP, and I dont really want to deal with the 700p anymore. I swapped back to my old sanyo and couldnt be happier.

    Good bye Andrew.

Sorry, but he has posted this same message in a couple of threads and I am getting annoyed. I mean, who waits until the day or two before a software update THEN gives up on a phone and wants to make a public statement out of it?

That is how you become a troll....
