ok So has anyone here seen the OS for the 680? It's version is 3.0. The 755's OS is v.2.5. THe 3.0 version is completely revamped and looks way better. Now does that shed any light on the matter?

I think you're confused. The 680 and 755p have the same version of the Palm Operating System, 5.4.9. I think you may be talking about the phone application itself. The 755p has 2.5. I don't have a 680 to check, but perhaps that's 3.0.

Palm said they purposely didn't include the 680's phone app for two reasons. First, they wanted the 755p to be a power user/business device and the 680's phone app was designed to be a consumer phone app. Second, supposedly the phone app was designed with GSM in mind and it's built into the telephony. So it would have to be rewritten for a CDMA device such as the 755p.

I played with the Treo 680's phone app the other day. Didn't impress me any.

Palm needs to make something like DialByPhoto (except less laggy) for the OS.
