Just out of curiosity, what is responsible for the greatest battery drain?

    bluetooth
    IM application (mundu, causerie, etc.)
    screen backlight
    phone
    whatever else...

According to the developer's guide, anything that opens and uses the serial port makes for the greatest battery drain. (there are notes and warnings about this in several places). This includes IR. but maybe not the USB, as the device can draw power from an USB port. (this is why you can charge the Treo from an USB port, although very slowly.)

Then there is the "searching for a signal" which also causes faster than normal battery drain.

BT is specially designed for mobile devices, so it is unlikely that it causes significant battery drain.

Don't know about apps using the network (browser, email, IM), but I guess they do use-up the battery faster.

During full use, the cellular radio more than anything else. If not using the radio, it'll be your backlight. Now, when just sitting and doing nothing, you don't have to worry too much about battery drain, even with IR recieve, bluetooth, and radio enabled.

Id say web browsing is a pretty big drain, particularly if you are on EVDO network.

After a few days of use, my battery is working great. For me the biggest drain is running Chatter in an area with a low connection. For example, at work, the signal is strong enough to receive voice calls (though even those drop out some!) but the data connection keeps sucking radio power to keep established.

So, what I do is turn Chatter off unless I have a specific need to be watching for email. I don't need it running when I'm sitting in front of a computer anyways.

I have a license for causerie but am currently trying out other IM apps because it seemed to drain my battery quickly. Mundu seems better and doesn't bog down my treo as badly.

All in all, I am impressed with the battery life with the 755p, but I could use a bit more to make it through the day without worries.
