First time palm OS user; recently got the 755p phone and I am loving it.
Wondering if there is a way to kill the background processes?

    Thanks!!

What "backgound processes" are you concerned about?

Did you upgrade from another Palm device?

But if you "synched everything up", that's probably responsible for the other ten.

    1. Rename your desktop /Palm/<username>/Backup directory (to, say, Backup.old)

    2. Hard reset the 755

    3. Hotsync

    4. That'll load your PIM data, but no 3rd party software or old Tungsten-related files.

Only install 755-compatible software going forward.

Hmmm, would this also be why everytime I try to go to Memos now I get the soft reset? It wasn't doing it last night, just started this morning. I'll try what you recommended this evening. Hopefully I won't mess anything up... Thanks!

Whoa 15 resets. That is a lot for a 755p. If you said a 700p then maybe I would believe you. lol. I only experienced one reset so far and I've had it for over a week now.

You can also try to install Reset Doctor. It will monitor resets and at least tell you what program was running at the time. The website also has a useful little diagnostic how to here:

OMG thats just too much >.< I've had only one and that was a force reset because TCPMP killed the keyboard backlights.

You guys need to hard reset, and like mentioned before, do a clean install. Go to program files, palm, and under user name, rename the old Backup folder. What I do is take the whole "Palm" folder outta there and copy it to another folder like on the desktop and then wipe out the previous installation. Start from scratch then.
    Treos are rock stable then.

Please, the next time it resets, once it loads back up, do a ##ERR# and post the error.

I am having this same problem, and i am getting "BGTask q is full".

There is hardly anything on the internet about this error, so please let me know if this is the same error you are getting.

    Thank you.

    Here is my error message:

A crash occurred on 6/4/07 at 1:40 pm while running "Phone": BGNetTasklmpl.c,Line:527.BGTask q is full

It reboots about 7-10 times a day.

Yup. You're not alone. Though the only fix i have found is not to use ptunes...

Not using pTunes is like saying don't breathe! I can't do that!!

OK... here is what I did. Hard reset and then loaded up the audio gateway from softick. 2 days and no auto resets so this is good. I have been slowly adding on other software to see if anything is currupting it but so far, so good. I still have a slight glitch. The device will still lock up and this has to be with the audio gateway. When I turn this sucker on is when I get the random lockups. I just need to pull the battery and move on. I am going to ping softick on the lockups but at least I stopped the 5-7 reboots every day.

My Treo freezes but maybe once a day at most and its not as inconvenient considering what I am doing.
