After waiting 8 weeks for Buy.com to send me the back-ordered S9, I broke down and ordered one from Amazon.

I was so excited when I received it but that quickly faded as I learned I couldn’t get it to work without a third application Softick Audio Gateway(SAG). So I’ve now downloaded that application and after messing around for 30 minutes finally got to hear some music through the headphones.

Now I still have some “issues.”

#1 increased lockups, my phone locks up after installing this SAG software more than ever, forcing a hard reboot.

#2 cannot connect automatically ever, in order to reconnect I have to do this –
    • reboot phone
    • start Bluetooth application
    • search for the S9
    • enter the passkey
    • pair the devices
    • start the SAG program
    • pair the device
    • within SAG redirect audio to the headset
    • start up RealPlayer
    • play a song
    • hope to hear it

It doesn’t seem like it should be so complicated. If there is something I’m doing wrong I’d love to know what it is, I select “add to Trusted Devices” every time I get a chance, but it doesn’t seem to “remember” that from session to session.

I’ve also had to re-encode all the music I wanted to hear on the device as most of it was recorded at Variable Bit Rate and it clipped horribly.

The range is also pretty pathetic. I realize now why it says to keep the phone above my waist, it clips pretty badly in my pocket, balancing the phone on my head or even holding it in my hand sort of defeats the purpose of “wireless”

    blahh

Do you mean, "Softick Audio Gateway"?

S9 is a little finicky. It immediately looks for its pair when it turns on. If none is found, it goes into pairing mode.
After you have paired the headset and got it working; the next time you want to use it, make sure the bluetooth on your phone is already on. THEN turn on the S9. It should find your phone and pair up right away without you having to go through all those steps.

Ohh I have no idea why SAG locks up your phone. I have SAG (trial) with my 650 and it works fine.

I do turn the S9 on after the phone bluetooth is on, the problem is that the phone forgets the pairing, and I need to start over every time.

That never happened on my 650. I'll try again from scratch when I get a chance to see what happens. (I gave the S9 to my girl who got the upstage, since I rarely use my treo for music anymore)
