Is the Security Patch language neutral ?
It was not published in Europe until now.

After installing both patches (Security & Singapore), I found that Text Plus during SMS is impaired ie lags a bit, suggested words slow to pop up. I suspect the Singapore patch is the cause.

This is the reply I got from palm......

Thank you for contacting Palm Support. This is Uly assisting you with your recent concern.

I understand that you wish to know if the TREO 680 updater found in Palm US website is the same with the updater found in Palm Singapore website.

Generally, these two updaters are different to each other. The updater in the Palm Singapore website is called TREO 680 Product Update for Singapore and the one in the Palm US website is called TREO 680 Security Patch.

Both updaters could be installed and could be use in the TREO 680. If your located in Singapore we would recommend that you install both the updater.

I install the Spore patch hoping it would help on this aspect but i dont see any noticeable improvements

With the other patch, i see in palminternals full notification a lot of " TelephoneyInterfaceLayer/Library" activity going on!
Palm itself can only load 64k into ram at a time, iirc, anything more must be paged through. I suspect the fact that you say "long chats" is what's going on. I don't offhand know of a way to archive SMS messages, but it sounds like you definitely need to purge.

Just installed the patch on my 680 GSM. Worked perfectly, no problems or know issues yet.

i have a unlocked t680 with windows vista. i installed it 3 times by emailing the file to myself. the patch shows in my applications and after i install it from there as they seem to require the patch no longer is visible in the applications. i know i installed it correctly because i have to push the reset button like they ask.

That's right, the application is deleted after it installs its files. It does, however, leave behind a Temp Install Data file that you can delete with FileZ, if you'd like.

I also experienced the lag with textplus after installing the Singapore patch.

I too noticed more telephony interface activity.

Thanks for that. Would have been nice if Palm had mentioned it. File deleted.

What are these telephony activities? I did not notice these, only switching between applications (using 123-Launch), sometimes does not launch the applications immediately. It happens less frequently prior to the patches but is more prominent now after installing the patches.

It shows under notification using Palminternals. If you also installed the singapore patch, just delete PhoneInterfaceLibrary using Filez or Resco Explorer. Expect a soft reset after this. Removing this library installed from the singapore update restores the speed improvements realized when the security update (HSNav.prc) was installed.

Im just assuming that TelephonyInterfaceLibrary is the fix for SMS handling.

I can't delete PhoneInterfaceLibrary. I have two of them and both give me the message that they are ROM. This can't mean that the patch wasn't installed, because the sizes of the two files they mention to check on a good installation were both as described.

Actually, one is ROM, and the other is locked. I could unlock it and delete but that still leaves one in ROM.

That's OK, the ROM version is supposed to be there. The update only put new versions in RAM.

Easier said than done. Even after unlocking it, I get the following message when I try to delete: "Database protected in Item::remove()d"

To delete a protected file from RAM, you've got to perform a warm reset first. Then delete the file and follow up with a soft reset.

Still easier (much easier) said than done. I've done three warm resets and get the same message when I try to delete.
