is there a possibility i can recover my multimedia files on my treo 650 after a zero out reset? if yes, how?

Not unless you had them backed up somewhere else - like on a card.

i dont have a memory card, all my files are save in the phone memory..

The point of a zero out reset is to erase everything - like erasing your personal data on a computer. Unless someone knows of a utility to do this, I think you're out of luck.

If such a utility exists, that would be pretty scary, as someone could purchase a used Treo off ebay, run this utility, and retrieve all of the personal info of the previous user.

Actually Palm does warn that it is theoretically possible to reconstruct files after a zero out reset, but I think they're saying that out of an abundance of caution and the possibility of lawsuits. Here's what they say: "Please note that advanced forensic data recovery is a possibility with any consumer device that has memory (laptop computer, handheld, music player). As such, Palm makes no warranty or claims as to the efficacy of the data removal procedures described here."

    You mean they were saved.

And it's amazing to me the number of people I see on this board that have never done a hot-sync. Your missing a lot of features and if nothing else, it backs up the data on your phone.

As long as it's free, you can use the Palm Backup system, which will save all your PIM data.

    What would I be missing?

"advanced forensic data recovery" in this case probably means unsoldering the flash memory device from the Treo's circuit board, de-capping the chip package to remove the silicon die, and sticking it under something like a supercooled electron microscope to probe for residual electrons. If that's even possible, it would probably cost thousands of dollars. How much is your data worth?

Similar costs would be incurred for this type of data recovery from a hard drive (please correct me if I'm wrong, bb).
