I have seen a few topics about people having trouble right out of the box with the new 755p. The cause of this seems to be hot syncing old profiles from 600's 650's and 700's. DONT DO IT. Just make a new profile and only copy files such as contacts, you can backup your old hotsync profile by copying the file and renaming the folder to say "back up". Its best when you get your new phone to re-download all the applications again to ensure you have the most up to date, also cramping a bunch of applications that worked on the 600/650/700 to the 755 might cause constant resets since the 600/650/700 programs have issues with the 755.

Okay, he's right about not doing it....but, just don't do it first. Don't even hook your phone to the cable until you install the new Palm Desktop. Do not uninstall your old palm desktop just install the new one. Don't worry about changing any names, although it's always a good idea to create a backup file in a new folder before installing. When you install the new disk it will tell you that whatever programs that are not compatable were placed in the programfiles/your user name/palmOS5 incompatable apps file. Use any old or new user name. All your stuff that is compatable will be transferred over.

I can't agree enough with this. It's always best practice not to sync old data to a new phone- it's usually at the root of most problems.

It's also a good idea to keep track of all of your serial numbers, check for updates to your apps frequently so you always have the most current versions.

I checked that thread when I was trying to figure out what the heck to do with my 755P, sync-wise. Unfortunately, the first and last posts in that thread weren't about the 755P.

It's useful in that it made me wary of the Cross Sync Syndrome (okay, I made that up), but I wasn't sure where to look for something specific to my model. It seems to have worked out okay, so far, though.

EDIT: Also, I didn't understand all of it.
    * Stuck patches? Partial erase worked for me.
    * Stuck virtual keyboard? Partial erase AND folder deletion worked for me.
