Hey, I just noticed something on my Treo 680 that is very unusual. The shift button (little round dot under the "A") and the enter key... there backlighting is VERY dim compared to the other keys on the keyboard. I would say the rest are 9/10 and they seem to be 3/10.

I would also say my "I" and "L" are showing an early sign of this problem. I would score them as 7/10's.

Is this usual, or should I give Palm a ring and have em send me another Treo under my warrenty?? Thanks! Below is a photo I took with my digital camera... I dont remember my Treo 650 every having off backlighting in the keyboard.

Your pic isn't coming up. I checked my keyboard lights and they're the same as yours. The "Option" key under the A, the "Enter" key, "I" and "L" are all dimmer than the rest...

Mine, three! But now I'm crushed...to think my Crimson Treo isn't perfect!!

I noticed this the first night I had it...and wasn't concerned enough to do anything about it.

My Treo is the same way too. But what I have learned is that not all Treo's are exactly alike. For instance my wife's Treo 680 keyboard is noticably brighter than mine.

The keyboard pcb has a fixed amount of LEDs placed at various locations. So there may be some area which will not be as brightly lit as others. And some keyboard has white LEDs while some has yellowish LEDs. Same goes for the screen LCDs. So it is really a lucky draw when you purchase your treo. I actually changed my yellowish LCD to a white one taken from a non-working treo which I bought.
