I received a replacement 680, and will be sending my original phone back to Palm.

What is the best way for me to ensure that all of my data is cleared from the phone? I've already done a hard reset - does that do the trick? It looks like it did, but I wanted to be sure there wasn't anything I'm missing.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe a hard reset will do the trick.

The most thorough way is to do a zero-out reset. Holding the power, up, and sync buttons, remove then replace the battery. The device will be inactive for about 10 minutes, then will boot.

I'm not sure that will work but there is a much simpler way to do a "factory" reset on the 680. On the 680 a factory reset can be done by first assigning a security password to the phone (under preferences) and then do a normal hard reset. That will randomize the RAM and of course erase all traces of old data.
