Ok, so I bit the bullet (actually was lured by the promise of EVDO) and swapped out my mostly trusty T650 for the 700p.

Spent the next 5 days (while the 700p was in transit) in a paranoid frenzy after hearing the bad reviews of the BT functionality on the 700.

Ok, so now I have my new toy and here's what I have found (after 4 hours of use):

    The GOOD:
    1. Form factor is a little nicer (rounded bottom corners make it easy to slip in pockets) and it feels lighter in my hand.

    2. EVDO is really great. Makes surfing the internet possible / enjoyable again. I would guess about 5x faster than the 650. This alone is worth the upgrade!

    3. (drumroll plz...) BT functionality is FLAWLESS. Instant connect with my Plantronics 655 headset and my GF reports call quality is BETTER on my BT headset than on the phone itself. She couldn't believe I was on my headset! Trust me, she has had to deal with every BT headset I own cutting in and out and if ANYONE is qualified to judge sound quality on this one it's her. On my end, she was loud and clear.

    4. Increased internal memory...just a no brainer for these type phones.

    5. Voice recorder function...for my work, this is a great add on.

    6. Camera resolution, Honestly can't see a HUGE difference from my 650, but it is a bit clearer in my limited testing. (Tested both phones side by side.)

    The BAD:
    1. Not sure what the Green button on the front does other than pull up call logs in the phone function. Why doesn't this at very least turn the phone on like the 650's does? Seems like a waste of a major button that can't be changed in preferences.

    2. Liked the "Menu" button location on the 650 better.

So far, that's all I've got to report. I will need to really use this for a while before I can truly judge it's merits, but AS OF THIS MOMENTI can't be more pleased. (famous last words...?)

Green button, whilst on a call, acts like a flash button on a regular phone (it's called Flash Mode on the Treo) to allow you to toggle between calls

A lot of folks who miss the 650's button setup use LudusP to restore it to the 700p/680.

That LudusP link doesn't seem to be working right now.

Yeah, it looks like his site went off-line in the last 10 minutes or so. It's working now...I changed it to the MTDN LudusP download page.

Butler will allow you to change the green phone button as well.

Thanks for the positive update. It's good to hear from one of the majority of people who are relatively happy with their 700P. It is a great smartphone.

True, but if you want to replicate the 650's button setup, you'll have to go with LudusP.

Yea, I love my 700p great in every way, although it does have some problems they are very small and soon to be fixed. No need for a 755 right now, although that might change if I hear lots of good things about it. But I can't wait for the linux treo at the end of this year. I will have the first one created.

I just got my upgrade and love it! Bluetooth is working great (the headset actually stays paired, unlike on the 650). I love having PocketTunes and Docs2Go built in. I haven't set up my email yet, so I don't know if that will slow it down or not. This is a great Handheld!

Got mine yesterday and so far so good (crossing fingers).
Now when my area gets Sprint EVDO, then I'll have some fun.

Why didnt the two of you just hold out for the 755p? Same as the 700p, with some modifications (not all are improvements). If youre still within your 30-day trial, take it back and get the 755p.
