I know there is a thread on this currently,
    but frankly, ITS OLD.

Me being a new Treo 700p user,
    [debating towards 755p though...]
I'm curious to know everyones opinions.

What are the most important apps to have?

From what I've gathered so far,
you should have some sort of backup program,
    [I use NVbackup]
    and also FileZ.

    What are some others?

    Also,
I'm looking for a very good organizer for my Treo.
I know that there is a debate between Agendus and Datebk6,
    but are there any others?
Honestly the generic treo calendar setup just isn't doing it for me.

    Thanks!

Did you do a search on this topic? There are bunches that cover this to topic. Ben

There haven't been a lot of new apps since the latest posts to the "Six Essential Applications" at the top of this forum.

even if there are new apps, why create a new thread as opposed to posting to that one?
ONE can be spelled as NEO.
    There is no spoon.

Every discussion board I am on some people seem to get upset when similar threads appear, or yell "use the search button" but sometimes search doesn't yield results very well and as far as new threads....what is the harm?

Anyway, personally, as a new 700p user myself, that top 6 thread was interesting but I found myself reading a bunch of it and thinking "this was before the 700p...I wonder if updated versions of some of these apps or new apps change things" Also, new people or changing habits may yield more suggestions, so another thread is fine in my eyes.

I am also one that think stickies lead to blind eyes. When I come to a forum that has stickies I so often IGNORE them as they are always there, rarely updated, so why look every time? Yeah, bad habit. But same thing is true of login messages, eulas, etc., people have a tendency to ignore them.

Anyway, enough off topic and rant from me.....

chattermail is to die for, but I have not purchased it yet. There will be no further development on it. If it works well after the 700p rom upgrade I will probably bite, but that major of a change has me worried on a dead product.

^ From what I've gathered, Chatter is hardly dead. The application and developer were purchased and hired by Palm. So I'm sure we'll see future incarnations of Chatter on new hardware produced by Palm.

I've used Chatter since day 1 on my 700p and have had ZERO issues. I would be very suprised if the MR somehow "tampers" with Chatter's rock-solid stability.

But in other threads here the Chatter developer has stated he did not go to Palm to work on Chatter (I take this to be email at all, but I suppose he could be working on whatever linux based mail app they have for the new OS...but that may not work on our current Treo's if that is the case anyway) and B) he has stated there will no further updates to Chatter.

I hope you are correct on the MR shoudn't impact Chatter....but before buying I think I will wait and see. I still have 21 days left on my trial. :-)

BY THE WAY, I will throw another must have app, at lest for me: eReader. With it on a previous palm (and still on the Treo) I have read more books then I ever did when I used dead trees. ;-)

I looked at 2Day, but am not sure I understand what it does other than put a TODAY screen up front. Is that it?

Thats right. But it's the best today screen I have found so far. You get
    - your next meetings and tasks
    - the battery, signal strength, ringer switch and Bluetooth status
    - the RAM and SD card usage
    - owner information
    - weather information (if 4cast is installed)
    - news headlines (if Quick News is installed)
    - icons for new mails, SMS and missed calls
    - a launcher for five applications
    well arranged on ONE screen.

There is also a nice week view. Just give 2day a try!
