I badly want to get a Treo 755p, but I don't feel like renewing my contract.
Does anyone know how much it would be for me to purchase one brand new without a contract?
Hopefully, just hopefully, the price is no more than $400 =/

Hope in one hand, poo in the other, see which fills up first!

Seriously though, the 755p w/o contract is $650. according to everything I've read anyways. Which is why I'm going to hold out for the 700p rom update. I want the 755's form factor & burgundy would be nice, but I just can't justify shelling out that kind of dough for basically a slightly newer look & an IM program(which I've already downloaded anyway).
I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by fleeing the scene of the accident!

You see, I was wondering if the 755p w/o contract would really be that much (like $650).
But then I started thinking... if they are selling it for like $280 with a 2 year contract, would they really have the balls to mark up the price that much for purchasing it without a contract?

    ^^^

what do you mean "the balls"?

Before Monday (official release date of 755P), a Treo 700P WILL STILL be $649.99

Sprint makes $$ off commission (new signups), so its FULL MSRP or nothing. Thats the way cell industry work.

There is no way the improvements to the 755p over the 700p are worth $650. I don't think the price is out-of-line considering how much other unsubsidized phones cost, but that price isn't meant for people to upgrade from a 700p. Hold onto your wallets for a device with the Linux/Palm OS. At the very least wait for the 700 MR and more reports from 755p owners.

My cost at the Sprint store on Friday was $579.99. Less $150 in store instant rebate, then I'll get $200 credit on my Sprint account. My final investment will be $229.99. I did renew my contract for two years, but I don't have a problem with thiat because I like Sprint.

I also got Power Vison Ultimate $25.00 package for $5.00.

How did you get both the $150 instant rebate and a $200 credit on your account?

With the discounts offered for a 2 year contract, you should go that route rather than buying the phone at full retail w/o a contract extension. It would be cheaper to get the contract and cancel prior to 2 years than buy it full price.

When you folks say 2 yr contract are you talking about renewing for two years or for people that aren't currently with Sprint. I'm in the middle of a two year contract.

Has to be a brand new line.

You only get a $75 service credit towards the $579 price if you current phone has been active for less than 2 years.

I'm out of contract and so far they won't budge on that. I will be cancelling and purchasing under another family member.

And like stroths mentioned, it would still be cheaper to just pay the $150 penalty down road to cancel that account and just do another one again back under my own name at that time.

I've had two of the phones on my plan for more than two years, mine and my wifes. I added two more last year. I evidently agreed to renew my contract for another two years last year when I added the phones and changed our plan. I actually need to add a 5th line of service. I currently use a 650 and would like to pass that on to my wife. I want the 755P. So should I just add a line and then do some number swaps later? Do they charge for each swap. Or should I just tell them exactly what I want upfront when I order. Seems like a lot of changes. I basically want:

A new 755P phone with my old number
My old 650 phone to have her number
Her old phone to have the new line of service number

I'll no doubt be changing the plan because we currently just have Vision, which is the only thing available in our area, not Power Vision. I don't have a problem with a new contract. I don't have many choices for wireless where we live.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I know how it is to call these folks. Very frustrating. It would really help if I new what they can do for me before calling.

SCSANDEN: Do the number swap there is no charge. I have a 700p and my wife wanted one and we had 4 lines I added a 5th to get her the 700p. Moved her number to it and my sons number to her old phone.

I am under 8 months into a 2 year contract. I didn't get the best deal that I've seen here, but I'm happy. I got the 755p (even though I have the 700p) for $329 straight-up - no taxes, no rebates. I figured that I did pretty good considering they really didn't have to give me anything off of the retail price. I'm happy. I can dump the 700p on ebay or keep it as a spare.

Got mine today. Less than 24 hours after I ordered it over the phone. Looks and feels great. No way I'll be putting a bestskinsever on this one...not with that rubberized coating...if it would even stick anyway. In my pocket, naked with a screen protector.

Basically it will have cost almost nothing by the time I unload my 700p. Definitely worth doing the "refresh". But had it cost me a lot of money, I'd agree with other comments that spending a lot of money from a 700p to this may not be worth it.

To anyone unsure of spending the money or not, I suggest seeing and feeling one first. Once side by side, you might think otherwise before spending a lot of money....especially if you have the Zoti antenna on your 700p already.

jayzee - What could you have possibly complained about that would make them give you deals as good as those?

I didn't pay a bill for 7 months.
What did you pitch a fit about? The fact that you complained so much that last year you complained so much that they gave the 700p for free with the terrible lag?

Just to pitch a fit to get something for free is ignorant. I don't mind paying a a fair price for a product as long as it works as advertised. I just can't stand people that ***** just to get something for free...I can usually pick them out as soon as they walk into m store.

Stupid? I'm not sure I follow you as I did not pay "retail". Jealous? I think someone is drinking too much of their own brand of Kool-Aid...sorry, jealous I am not.
