A Palm Treo 680 device does not synchronize my client’s calendar and contact list using Palm Desktop. After a HotSync I receive a message that says
“Protocol Error: Handheld file could not be opened. (4004)”
I tried running a db Scan. The scan found no errors in any databases on the device.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall the Palm Software in a clean, new folder. This did not work either.
Does anyone know of a way to delete the databases from the phone without resorting to a hard reset? My client has many contacts on the device and it would be a problem to try to recreate each entry.

The HotSync log is listed below. Thank you for any help.

If you have Vz Wireless you might try to consider doing this...

On your phone, go to the home screen where you could see all of the icons.

    Tap on the WirelessSync icon

Press on the menu button. If a pop menu comes up go to Settings and choose Connections.

    Tap on Advanced.

Make sure that "Enable other sync apps" is checked.

    Hit OK.

Just go back to the home screen by pressing on the home button.

Try another hotsync and hopefully issue is resolved.

Try running dbScan thusly (as opposed to the method you used), and see if it doesn't help:

WOW robbalazs - You were right on the money with that WirelessSync stuff. That cleared up this same problem for me and now my Treo 650 syncs again!

    You rock!
