I'm having some a hard time trying to figure out how to add music files onto my 680. help?

Generally, you need to copy the music from your PC to the /Audio directory on your SD card. This can be done by using:
    1. A card reader - these are cheap and plentiful
    2. An App that makes your Treo look like another drive to the PC. There are several out there; my favorite is Card Reader
    3. The combination of PocketTunes Deluxe and WMP 10.

Audio directory is KEY for two reasons:

    1. That's where Palm applications look for music, and
    2. You should not put files in the "root" dorectory of an SD card.**

**The PalmOS reserves the root directory of an SD card for "system" files and there is a limit for the number of files you can put there. (40 to 50?) Anyway, if you fill up this directory and try to put one more file there -- the system will say the "card is full" even if you have 1, 2 or 3GB left of space. However -- that space is still usable -- but just not by the root directory anymore.

If you format an SD card in your Treo -- the appropriate directories are automatically added to the card . . . if you formatted it elsewhere -- you will have to add them while in the card reader or by using the freeeware file management program FileZ, if the card is in your Treo.

    Audio -- music files
    DCIM -- pictures and videos
    PALM/Program --
    PALM/Launcher --
    PALM/Blazer --
    PALM/Backup --

Hey Bill -- I have never fully grasped the difference between the "Program" and "Launcher" sub-directories.. . . . . . . . what is your take on those?

    Cheers, Perry.

That's a little "OT" , but the main difference I see is that /Palm/Launcher/ is the OS's default directory for applications; the Palm OS, natively, won't see an app as launchable in any other directory. /Palm/Programs/ is the standard agreed upon by developers for putting an app's support files directory.

    thelemoncookie,
You basically got your answer already, but I'll add another option. I've been using pTunes and WMP. I know they are not everyone's favorites, but they now play VERY nicely together. You need to have pTunes 4.x to play nice with WMP 11 but when you do make the upgrade, they are really sweet. You can drag and drop your music right in WMP to your treo (in the sync window). It's easy and well done.

    (Am I really complementing microsoft?)
