Shimon, thanks for the update. I'm not sure if I'm doing something incorrectly, but the "phone lookup at whitepages.com" doesn't seem to work for me. I'm using a Sprint 700P and whenever I attempt to use the feature from the "call log" view, it inputs (seemingly) random numbers into the whitepages look up box.

For example: The number 222-222-2222 has Takephone inputing "564676484" into the Whitepages search box.

Strange...It works fine on my Sprint 700P.

    Shimon,
Thank for the update. This is the best on yet!
Visor Deluxe->Visor Edge (Upgraded for $100.00 just by giving them the Serial # of my Visor Deluxe plus I got to keep the Deluxe. Those were the days!)-> Palm M-505->M-515->Tungsten T->Zire 72->Treo 650->->Treo 700P->Treo 755P. Plus various replacements. 8130 Pearl....Sorry

Hmm, I wonder what it could be then. I tried completely deleting Takephone and then reinstalling it and that still hasn't solved the issue. Everything else in Takephone works as it should. There's a chance I'm missing something, I just can't figure out what that might be.

    Hi,

Please describe with as much details as possible the steps you take to get there, and what you see on screen.

    Thanks

    Hi all,

    Version 7.00 (073) posted at www.shsh.com/beta

    - Allow journal in FIND screen - not just when in a call.
    - Fix a bug when selecting "View call history" on speed dial records.

    Thanks !

is there anything in takephone or 2day that would make my missed call or sms popup go away after a certain time and minimize to the default bell in the cornor? i remember when i first got the phone, if i missed a call , when i went back to phone like 2 hours later the popup message was still there, now after like 2 hours for example the popup goes away and all i see is the bell in the cornor, regardless of what screen that i presently have open

it was actually chattermail causing this, there is an alert killer option in preferences that has to be unchecked

(Just to prove I'm a newbie here, this is the third time Ive posted this stuff, but I finally think I've got the right place! )

I just registered, and really like TAKEphONE, It is sooo nice to have an app that is really suited to the Treo! (unlike other some other phone apps)!

But since you're in active development mode, I thought I'd take advantage and chime in with my two cents worth ...

    Version 7.00 build (073)

    (1) Really minor, but ... well, ok, I'm picky!
When paging through speed dials to get to the Dial Pad, I get an annoying replot on the last page of speed dial numbers (I only have two pages after skipping blanks). From the last page, hitting right replots the first page of speed dials and then plots the Dial Pad. Not a biggie, its just that I always skip a beat thinking I've just missed an alert or some error message ...
(it seems faster in 073 than it did in 056, but still there)

    (2) Compress the Speed Dial buttons?
Since you defer to the built-in app speed dial setup, It would be much easier to arrange speed dial buttons if Takephone had the same number of entries per page. As it is, figuring out where the Takephone page boundries will be is a pain. Maybe an option to "compress" the speed dial buttons to 14 (2x7) per page like the built-in? (by putting the speed dial letter and icon on the same "line" as the label?)

    (3) An option to turn off the i-Bar?
<edit> Ok, never mind, silly me ... missed the selection to turn this off!

Thanks for the great app. And, btw, I'm registering 2Dial tonight as well! You write some truly *useful* apps!

    Ken

    Hi, and welcome !

I see the "flicker" thing now. Will try to fix it.

Regarding the speed dial "compressed" view - as always - when enough requests accumulate - I will try to add this, too.

    Thanks for the input !

First, Shimon, you are amazing. Without a doubt the most responsible developer out there. Thanks alot. The Palm platform would totally dominate the universe if all the developers were like you. ok, enough gushing, on to my question.

This is for everyone- I travel overseas alot. I use Skype. In Takephone, I started to play around with the Location option in the Telephony preferences pane, and when I saw Dial using: Serial/BT, I got the idea that it may be possible to dial into Skype from Takephone over bluetooth if I set up a new location to do so. But how would I set that up? I assume the BT dialing is for dialing from a Palm device to a BT Phone. I'm on a Mac, so I think an Applescript could handle the actual dialing once it got the number from Takephone.

    Any ideas?

    Hi,

Not sure I know how this can be done. Cool idea. Will try to investigate.

Is there any way to "hide" contacts like in Initiate? There are some contacts that are in my address book that I might call like once a year, so I would prefer for that contact to not pop up when doing a search. It would make searching a for a contact a lot faster for me. Is this possible? Thanks.

If a contact is marked, "Private" and security is set to "Hide Records", it won't show during a search.

Thanks. I also see that there is a "filter" option which should also help me out.

    Shimon,

Any idea as to what might be going on with this? I've looked more closely at this issue (since I can't use the "internet search feature") and it looks like something strange is going on. If I'm in Takephone's "Call log" screen, I can select a number and choose "internet search." The "internet search" detail box pops up with the name of the person that the number belongs to (under "search for:"). If I choose "white pages," instead of looking up the actual number, the search looks up the name alphanumerically. This means that perform a "white pages" search (using takephone) for the name "Karen" Takephone seems to pass this to the "white pages" search as "52736" which are the numbers that correspond to "karen" on the phone dial pad.

If Shimon or anyone could offer any insight as to what might be causing this, that would be great. I've already tried to completely delete and then reinstall Takephone (but it didn't resolve the issue).

    Hi,

Thanks for the extra info. Now I understand what the problem is.
Since the call-log record has a name, I assume there would be no need to search for the number, so only the name is moved to the search dialog.
I guess if you send a text to whitepages - their server converts it to letters (to be able to search for numbers like 1-800-TOYSRUS)

Actually, that does sound like a reasonable assumption. I incorrectly thought that the white-pages look-up wasn't working at all. Now that I understand the way this is implemented, please don't invest any time in changing the way it works unless you see some benefit in it. I would much prefer that you devote your time to other upcoming features. Thanks!
