I can understand that some people on the fringes of service would want a warning indicator that they were roaming. I would too. I would welcome that. But a flashing light to tell me there is nothing to tell me?

Even a solid light would be a HUGE improvement over blinking as it wouldn't be so annoying, like a solid state Chinese water torture. Never mind that it was so bright. Even if I turned my phone upside down it still annoyed me. I had to set my phone on top of laundry to not see the blinking.

How about this for an indicator: whenever I am in service I want a blood-curdling scream every 3 seconds. And I want it to moan when I am roaming. Your choice of moan.

How bout you use what you want to use, and we'll use what we want to use.

    sound good?

I've never thrown such a raging hissy fit about the 'feature', but yeah, I agree.. Some people like it, go figure.

If you choose to install this app, you would install it to RAM; it won't work from the card. And, like any other app in RAM, you can delete it via the Delete menu in the Treo's application launcher (home).

Wow! You really need to relax more otherwise you're going to end up dead. If something this small has got your panties twisted this much.......what will you ever do if you're confronted with a REALLY stressful event?

Some people want this feature (myself included), but at the same time, I can't justify the extra battery drain on my 680.

I use it with medium blinking... not a problem the extra drain from battery... my battery lasts for 1 day and half with a medium usage... maybe without Service Led I can get 1-2 hours more but... who cares?

PS: I made the battery reset

There are valid reasons why some people would want to have this feature. In my case, when I am in a dark car at night, or in bed with the lights off, I use the flashing light to find where I placed my phone.

I use this program so I can find my phone in the dark also. I never thought about it adding a drain to my battery. I cannot get a full day without charging even with the larger 1600 seidio so I am always looking to try something. I am going to shut it off for a few days and see if there is any real difference

    works on the Centro too.

I think it's useful. I have a 650 and I don't always have the phone on, so it's very handy just to look at the LEd to see if the phone is on or not. Just got a centro for my wife, and now installed this.

The "fast" mode is indeed barely as fast as the normal mode on the 650...

I realize this is an ancient, ancient thread, but I'm using ServiceLED 1.4 on my 680 and I'm not seeing where there's any option to set the blink rate at all. There's no "OPTIONS" and I have one checkbox that either turns it on or off.
  11. #71
    ^^ v1.4. doesn't allow for that, you'll need v1.0.3 to switch.

I'll have to see if I can find this. I wonder if it would work better than 1.4 . 1.4 worked reasonably well (although there were times the LED would continue to blink after I turned off the phone), but mostly it would occasionally send my phone into the "turns the screen back on after 10 seconds" mode.

    Thanks.

Does anyone know where I could get a copy to test out? I've scoured the internet, and found several links to 1.0.3, but when you get there, the download has been updated to 1.4.

Thanks. I'd actually already been there and tried that. While the description says 1.03, the download link actually downloads serviceled4, which unzips into ServiceLed 1.4 when it's installed.

    Nuts.

HI, I tried loading this program using hot sync, but there's this message:
    "Runtime Error!
    Program: C:\Program Files\plamOne\QuickInstall.exe
This appplication has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information."

    Any clue?
