So I just got a car that happens to have bluetooth hands free on it (well I'm picking it up on Monday so I haven't really played with the bluetooth features).

The car doesn't have A2DP by default on it. Are there ways of adding profiles to cars as well as Treos?

I guess a more sensible, Treo-related question is this:

The car has an AUX in which I can connect to the 2.5mm jack on the treo.

I've lost my right angle adapter so I cannot test how that works with the 700wx but I just did a test with the seidio 2-in-1 with 3.5mm headphone jack along with my BT headset and the results were disappointing.

You can pair the treo with a BT device, but the 2.5mm jack has priority over all bluetooth audio (Meaning that the BT hands free connection is voided the second you plug in the 2.5mm jack). So unless the 2.5mm 3 wire right angle adapter only passes the stereo audio component (I remember with the Treo 600, it depended on the impedance you put across the terminals as to whether it did stereo audio or mic+mono), you cannot do BT HFP with wired stereo to AUX in a car.

If anything I said made sense, does anyone have a suitable work around?

Some have had success with the Scosche receiver. It's a bit expensive though.

first he needs a ROM dump and then a copy of the registry from the "Nissan Versa"

For almost $100, I'd want to have AVRCP connected to the audio controls. There is parrot.biz's product line, but its a waste if the car is already BT HFP enabled.

I wonder if the following device prevents the 2.5mm adapter overriding the bt connection:

Ah right you can use a regular 2.5 to 3.5 adapter that doesn't have the mic connection and that should work. I've done that with some a2dp headphones using a dongle and also connecting to the headset profile directly to the treo.

Good point, I remember the thread somewhere about the dongle headsets, so I guess that would have to work if you had any hope of pairing in that manner.

What would then be great is a car cradle that took the audio (so that it could be neatly routed to the aux in and charges the treo. Doesn't look like one exists tho.
