For a minute there, I thought were describing the 700p...until I got to the word "Mini"....

This is the best you can do Sprint/Palm?

I dont see the GIANT deal with going from a SD slot or miniSD??

I mean, yes, no 8GB capacity, but can you honestly expect palm to cram in the CDMA/EvDO antenna, 1.3MP camera, etc in the new form, i can't. They did the same for the UMTS/HSDPA antenna for the 750, i cant expect anything different from them here.

whats the max for miniSD... 4GB? 8GB will be on its way, I say by the end of the year it will be out and widly used. I still have a 2GB SD card in my Treo 680 as it is.

You guys seem to take it personally that this device isn't the breakthrough that you want (and seem to think you deserve) - that's natural, but all I'm saying is that it's <possible> that the 755p is intended to get users who don't ALREADY have Treos, to see the value. A smaller device, with no antenna will possibly appeal to a new user. Yes, you, the grizzled and hardened techie, may be put off by it, but maybe you're not the target.

Just something to consider....(and I'm putting on my flame-retardent suit right now for the bombs that are going to be headed my way).

I am really unimpressed with the "improvements" of this over the 650. It has none of the enhancements that I was hoping for: integrated GPS or wifi. Hopefully it will have more memory.

I wonder if they changed the universal connector just to **** us off.

At the end of the day I am sticking with GSM so this device does me no good.

The giant deal for me is that I use a SanDisk Ultra II+ SD card, which has a built in USB connector. That's so much more convenient than the thumbdrives that I used to carry (and lose regularly), and it also provides me with a way to give data/software to other computers, that it will probably keep me from upgrading to a 755p.

The curiosity for me is "why change it?" They certainly didn't get any form factor benefit from it. It basically breaks compatibility with media used by previous devices. So what's the win??

Methinks a patched 700p with an 8gb SDHC card, 2400mah Seidio battery, and the updated ROM will be a far superior device to the 755p. I am curious to see if the slightly updated VersaMail app fixes any of the glaring bugs on the 700p's 3.5.1 version. Here's HOPING (I'm almost certain it won't come true) that Palm will throw the suffering 700p owners a small bone by including an updated VM in the 700p ROM update.

I think tis isn't upgrade as much as a change of manufacturers. the new form factor is the only difference and they probably had problems with the people who made the 700 and can't get any more made.. next year should see the real upgrade.

I am only shocked Palm didn't go ahead and bump in a 2.0 mega-pixel camera into the 755p, that is my only surprise.

I could care less about the miniSD to SD issue... most phones have mini or microSD these days. I loved being able to purchase the Treo 680 and instantly pop in my 2GB SD card... but I am holding off on purchasing anything larger because the new Treos with the new Palm OS that will ship nxt year, will most likely have miniSD... aka, the HSDPA radio!

You are loosing how much space inside the Treo, expect a little sacrafice... they had to make room. The Treo 750 has a miniSD card because they needed to fit the HSDPA antenna and chip. Im sure if they made a CDMA Treo back in the day with this body, it would use SD, like the Treo 680 which is 2.75G uses SD.

Just read over the spec @ PalmInfocenter and home page here -

This really is a pointless upgrade isn't it? I mean - putting form factor aside, it's the exact same device as the 700p.... so if you own a 700p - there is 0 reason to buy one. I can't see this thing selling well.

My bigger concern is if the 700p is EOL (which we all know it is) - and the "battery cavity" in the 755 happens to be a different size (which it is) and all 700/650/680 batteries are incompatible - well, that just sucks.

Ah well.. Guess I'm stickin w/ the 700p w/ the firmware upgrade when it's released - and then will wait for Linux Treo. Maybe it'll be Unbuntu based

I think the MR will have the IM client and other changes that the 755p has, thus leveling the field (well, I would say it would make the 755p obsolete). THe 755p is aimed at those who DONT have a Treo already, as they are keeping up with the jones with the slimmer profile.
