Well I haven't been around here for awhile, but I see things haven't changed much.

Same great people hoping for something good to come along.
I always seem to get that 'oh that's such a shame' feeling.

    Well maybe next year.
And then again - maybe not. :-/

agreed...i miss this forum, but palm has lost me due to their lack of inovation. it is sad to see that palm has gone from the leader in this category to just one of the others in the smartphone category.

Something from HTC because Palm sucks, so I want a Touch Pro, Touch HD, or a Treo Pro.

The incremental product upgrade strategy has given palm the status of a mere "also ran" in my book.

The only thing left that interests me with palm anymore is the hawkins project. We will see what becomes of it. Otherwise, the treoline has really become tiresomely boring.

I'm gonna have to agree with everyone else.
I don't think that the 755p is going to be a 'significant' new model.
It's just to refresh the Sprint lineup I believe,
and take care a few of the bugs that the 700p might have -
    fresh out of the box.
The IM feature will be nice,
but aside from that, I think it'll be pretty basic.
Speaking of pretty, the burgundy is nice, eh?
Just hope the battery isn't like the 680's.
That seems to be the topic of discussion.

    Oh -

Since it has google maps built in I keep hoping it will have gps, but since nothing written so far has indicated it has.

Problem is no one else has came out with anything "much" better than the treo. Nothing that I'd want anyway... I'm sure there are smartphones out there that others want to use over the treo.

M$ could have buried palm with this last update, but instead went on the light side.... I think we are still waiting on the 'real' smartphones to arrive. Although, blackberry seems to be taking the lead on development and overall "buzz" over the last couple of quarters... like to see what they have to offer in Aug/sep/oct of this year....

    I agree.
I'm curious to see what comes later this year.
I think a good smartphone is the N95,
but lack of the QWERTY keyboard raises a lot of opinions with some.
    I must say,
it has amazing features that the Treo does not.
I'd love to see some of those incorporated.
I think each of the 3 top smartphones are going to be:

Verizon - Blackberry 8300 [Blackberry Curve, according to Engadget]
    Sprint - Treo 755p
T Mobile - Nokia N95 [Assuming Engadget rumors are true! Lol.]

I love a lot of the features that Blackberry has,
and especially a lot of what the new 'Curve' has to offer it looks like.
The colors and screen are just gorgeous,
and the whole setup itself is nice.
I'm sure they'd be a lot more popular if they had a camera.

    Anyways,
being a new [soon to be Treo user],
I'm deff. looking forward to the 755p.
    Enough said.

I believe the 680 had GMaps built in.

Google Maps does not equal GPS, though. It's the difference between having a paper map and a TripTick from AAA.

I have google maps on my 700p and know it's limitations. If the 755 had gps it would include a version of gm that would work with the internal gps. I can dream, can't I

Funny I just came from the mall and there was a guy at a kiosk that actually knew about the 755p. His info was generally correct.

I'm hoping to get that IM program extracted and put on our 700p's I wonder what Sprint is gonna sell it for.

How does Sprint charge for IM access now? I checked all the standard Power Vision packs and they mention included e-mail, but nothing about instant messaging. The SERO PV explicitly states IM, but nothing for regular PV packs. I would think the app would be included free and used for free with Power Vision. Then again this is Sprint, so who knows what they'll try with the nickel and diming.

I'm don't think Sprint nickel and dimes as much as the other carriers. Most likely the IM program is data so no additional charges.
I don't care what you say SPRINT kicks

You know what it is? I'm spoiled by my old grandfathered plan. Free Vision, free unlimited SMS, free pretty much everything except daytime minutes. Plans have turned more things into add-ons you pay for over the last few years, but you're right. Sprint isn't really bad when you look at the other guys. Especially when it comes to data.

oops sorry... i meant to say I wonder how much Sprint is gonna sell the phone for.

But yea Sprint's pricing is pretty darn good for what you get!

OMG I remember my grandfathered plan. I was allowed to change my minutes a few time until I tried to remove ready-link one day and the CS cleared my whole acct and when I found out it was after my billing cycle and they swore they couldn't fit it. I think I was paying $5 for unlimited data and text but lucky me I have an employee owed acct now

Why does everyone have to remind me of my old $5 unlimited text and data plan... After a screw up and lie about being able to keep it with a PV phone I now have to pay $15 for unlimited data and text.
