I was given a Cingular Treo 600 by a friend. I am currently setup with Verizon's family plan with five phones (aaagh!). I would like to be able to change the Cingular Treo to be used on Verizon network under my current plan. However, the Verizon tech told me this is not possible due to the fact Cingular runs the Treo under the GSM network and Verizon uses CDMA.

Is he giving me a line, or is this a fact?

I've tried following the unlock procedures posted elsewhere in this forum, but have not been able to test the Treo as my current phone (LG VX6100) does not have a removable SIM.

Not possible. The wireless radio inside of a Cingular GSM Treo 600 is not the same frequency or technology as the radio inside a Verizon CDMA Treo 600. You'd have to rip out the guts and replace them entirely. You're better off posting around here or somewhere looking for a trade or sell the Cingular one on ebay and buy a verizon one. Sorry, but the tech is totally separate.
