I did. And I deleted it and tried to install everything again but to same result. Even pairing my motorolla stereo headset was paired ok in bluetooth menu. But when I click on SAG program and my treo resets.
    Any more ideas??
Technological superiority has never won a product battle. If that were the case we would all be flying in supersonic Concordes and using Apple computers.

The key to winning the battle is a combination of price, convenience, marketing, sound business model and a bit of luck.

Not working for me and since I'm between projects, I have time to test the 1.11 version from SAG.

    Set-up: 680 with LG hbs-110

Pairing goes well. I can hear music via Ptunes. Sounds great - I can use the pause/play, skip, forward and volume functions of the LG headset (can't on the 1.10). Now, I get a call and can take the call; then all hell breaks lose. I'm reading the led readouts on my headset -- while the call is ringing, my headset reads "missed call", then "call connected". Probably cause the headset takes so long to stream the call through.

Call ends and SAG connects back to streaming music - but for only a second and reads disconnected. I check the SAG menu and I'm in A2DP mode. That's where it breaks for me. I can't switch over to internal speaker until I soft reset the phone. I've checked off the various configurations and troubleshooting options and still the same results.

What is weird, I can get it to work perfectly - music to call and back to music - just twice. My phone freezes up every single time and have to take the battery out to reset the phone. What a hassle since I have a Seido hybrid case! (Don't worry, I take the cover off while I'm testing.)

So, I'm back to 1.10 version. I can't use the headset function keys except for volumes and of course the power/end and lock key. At least I can listen to music and take a call without any problems. As with the 1.11, I have to manually switch from A2DP to internal speaker before I place any call. Have to admit, this headset works with my husband's LG phone - which it was originally made for. He hardly uses it, so it's in my hands for now. Plus, I can hear so much better when I'm driving my Wrangler versus my HS850.

Final result: 1.10 version is back on my phone.

I have this weird problem. In pTunes, it plays fine, but when the screen blanks (still in pTunes), the audio skips and pauses frequently.
When in background mode in another app eg Phone and when the screen blanks, I don't get the frequent pauses and skips.

I'm using 8010's. it occasionally hiccups but generally works fine (range is amazing). can't FF or rewind. If a call comes in I can answer and speak but on disconnect th phone freezes. I live with it - beats yanking the cable out of the phone when I'm running at the gym!

So is there any indication of which headsets are going to perform well with this and the 680? I'm reluctant to do this because I'm sure the power usage is going to kill me, but I'm trying to balance that against the intense angry frustration I will feel if using the jack eventually gives me the sound problem again. What a choice to have to make. I like the Plantronics because it goes over the ear, but it looks really expensive and bulky.

this new version has jacked my treo 700p. Anyone know where to get the 1.10 beta?

What does "jacked my treo 700p" mean? Perhaps English would be a good choice.

FWIW, I am running v.1.1.1 on a Treo 680 using HT820 stereo headphones. The sound quality is fantastic, except when there is the occasional pause. I probably have a pause every 5 minutes, and it lasts about 1-2 seconds. I use the headphones within a range of 3' of my handset. It's usually either on my desk or in my side holster.

I'd love to have any ideas as to how best to mitigate the skips. I'm not sure if pTunes, the 680 BT implementation, or SAG itself is the problem. I get far more skips (average 1/minute) if I run my 680 with other background apps (Chatter, Verichat, etc.).

As far as phone calls, I haven't actually tried that yet. I've been too busy actually enjoying my music. Heh.

I have the same setup as of last night and am occasinoally getting studders when listening to music and getting email. Seems like AG and any background apps are basically playing for the same background threads in the OS and therefore that is what is causing the skipping. I did one voicemail call, but other than that haven't taken any calls since getting this going. Will come back to this thread later (when batteries die or find something new).

Ok, some reports after a full day of work and the BT headphones.

Not bad, the sound is a bit better than I thought. AG though has flakes to it. Mainly when trying to get back into a phone call. I tried also to use the msuic button on my MotoPhones to turn music back on that had been paused and that caused a reset.

Overall, its tough that this software had to be written. Honestly, with a 8GB SDHC card and BT headphones, the Treo 680 is a beast when it comes to music. Thanks Softick for enabling this to happen. Hope that Palm works with/has worked with you, on a good and solid BT Stero implementation for their devices. You seem to have a really good handle on things.

I figure that most who are using this have either stopped or are having some but not major issues. For me, I've stopped. Simply put, this software casued my 680 to be too instable. I cannot stand one reset a day, let alone the 3-5 that AG caused. If my BT phones got out of range, my Treo reset, if there was an ignored call, I would reset. And there were problems reinstalling and getting it to work until I deleted my phones as a device and repaired them.

That all being said, when it worked, it was flawless and I was very happy with the output (most of the morning commute this morninng had no skips at all).

Having had this functionality for a little bit, it would be great to see Palm pull a Nokia/SE/Moto like thing and release a music edition with upgraded firmware, official SDHC support (with matching 8GB card), and push some of Cingy's music services thru the phone for a slightly smaller price than the iPhone. That would make for a very impressive device, and one that I am sure that a lot of people will be awed that Palm took a good stab at.

Oh yea, make it black with black and red keys to really set it apart (no silver sides either).

I recently purchased a headset and I also have a Treo 680. The bluetooth headset worked just fine with the treo on voice calls. BUT I wanted to use ptunes and play mp3s over the bluetooth headset from my Treo 680. It didn't work.. I also used Softick and tried. Still didn't work. Bestbuy said I had to reinstall the palm os to update teh bios. Is there anyway around this?
  16. #36
aliveandliving1, either use Softick's AG or nothing. There is no BIOS to update in the PalmOS, the BestBuy person is complely off there.

Obviously they don't drug test at Best Buy.

I think there actually was an update to the 650 where this did matter, but it doesn't relate to the 680. I have had SAG on my 680 since I learned about it a month ago, and my plantronics 590 works super on p tunes, and fairly well on phone, but switching back and forth is often a problem. But the sound quality is fabulous. And stereo. Who could ask for more. Well, I guess switching back from phone t p tunes seamlessly would be nice.

Is there any updates with this situation/dilemma?

I have a 680 and am considering the Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 headset... that is if it all (680 > SAG > bluetooth > headset) works together seamlessly... or at least in an improved manner than what's being mentioned in some of these posts from months ago.
