I don't use a data plan (I rarely access the internet from my Treo). I downloaded and installed Google Maps. When I launched it it asked if I wanted to connect to the internet.
I have a couple of questions:
    • I thought that the red light goes on when you access the internet. I didn't see the red light go on when I clicked YES to Google Map's quetion. Did it or didn't it access the internet?
    • Assuming I was accessing the internet, how do you disconnect? Simply by closing the application (or launching another one)? Is there any other way to disconnect?

    Thanks!

    System>Prefs>Network>Disconnect.

You will want to do this -- I am not sure how your carrier's billing will view this connection remaining open -- best to close it.

No red light when you make a data connection.
