I've got a few A2DP headphones but i want to get BT earbuds instead... i dont feel like buying a new set of earbuds when i already have a few that work very well for me except they are not A2DP... so i'm looking for a bridge... an A2DP AVRCP dongle with a 3.5mm jack on it i can plug anything i want into...
So far i've only found one (and others in the same family)

Plantronics includes one of these with their 590A headset. I don't know if they sell it separately or not.

I think you're thinking of the wrong end... most headphones come with an A2DP transmitter yes, but i'm looking for a receiver...
i've got my treo/ipaq/ipod with the ability to transmit A2DP, but i'm looking for a receiver I can plug regular headphones into. similar to the kits that allow a stereo to receive bt audio- but battery powered and portable :-)

You might check out the Altec Lansing T515. Cingular sells them in their stores for $149.00, including compatible speakers and the headset dongel you are looking for, I have one and it works pretty well.

Still haven't gotten it yet, so don't know yet. I'll post my thoughts after I've had to chance to play around with it! Snail mail is realllly slow these days, and I'll likely get the package next week...TWO weeks after it was shipped from Cali!!?! Not that far from Vancouver, Canada!

I've been using an Itech R35 for several months. It accepts any standard headphone and works with a2dp and avrcp standards. It works very well with my 700p.
It is more important to affix the blame, than it is to fix the problem

do you have the high pitch squeal problem? so far mine work well, but the bass doesn't get reproduced that well and there is a high >17khz tone coming from them... it blends into the background but on good headphones its easily heard

i'm going to play with the volume settings to see if the bass is actually my problem...
but so far my only gripe is that you can't use them while charging and the multifunction light is under the button- so you can't tell what color it is unless you use a fingenail or something...
overall it's pretty good, the AVRCP functions are great- if you don't have headphones plugged into it and instead directly to the treo, it can be used just as an AVRCP remote- useful for my in-car treo setup.
it has usb charging which is a must for me... but i can't figure out how the lanyard is supposed to connect to it...

the biggest bummer is that is uses 8888 as the pin, not 0000... so it's not compatible with a lot of "simple" a2dp devices that have just push-button operation.

Sounds AWESOME! Loving the remote functionality, which is something I've been looking for! Yippee! Now if mine only came sooner...

On quality, perhaps that's an issue with SAG itself? I read somewhere that they were now working on improving quality now that basic functionality is pretty much nailed. I also get the high pitch sound on my Jabra BT8010s, and yet those things still sound very good, so perhaps testing with another (non-Palm) A2DP device can confirm that.

Ok, so it seems that on other devices, this thing sounds wonderful (well as wonderful as a2dp gets). I paired it with my ipaq 4700 and presto- there is no high pitch, general sound reproduction was better and it was much louder. must be good ole clunky treo bluetooth at work ;-)
I am getting really bummed about the nonstandard 8888 pin... won't work with my 'dumb' usb and ipod a2dp gateways. however I'm still holding out hope I can fiddle with it to make it sound great on the treo- the button is easy enough to use with gloves on so I can use this while skiing and keep the treo safely inside a pocket somewhere.

I've read messages mentioning the high pitched squeal, but I have never heard it through mine. It could be because I am an old person and my hearing ain't what it used to be. My friend's kids have a ringtone on their phone that people over 40 are not able to hear, because of loss of high range sounds with age. Might be the same thing happening here.

So, just wait and the sound will go away

Probably, I don't see why not.

Got my iTech R35 and it's AWESOME! Absolutely love it, and sound quality is pretty good, although that's more an issue with Audio Gateway. Battery life is decent, and all the included accessories are wonderful! Took me a little while to realize that the controls are basically arranged like a 5-way navigator, as the manual was a little misleading, but I figured it out and use it daily with my Treo 680. A longer review is coming too.
