The link stored in the Kinoma media guide for WOSU 820 AM is not working.
    That link is
    mms://streaming1.osu.edu/wmtencoder/wosu-fm.wmv

The URL for that site is
    http://streaming.osu.edu/WOSU-AM-wm.htm

    That leads to this
    http://streaming.osu.edu/WOSU/leadin/wosu-am.wax

but that pops up WMP11 and I am unable to get the URL that will work when entered into Kinoma.

Can anyone here help ferret out the link to the stream?

    Thanks.

This is the contents of the wosu-am.wax file. I'm assuming that one of those HREFs is what you're looking for.

    Code:

Hah! The URL for that and WOSU-AM (in the media guide) works in Windows Media Player. Kinoma gives me a "404 - Not found" error.

So then they are looking at the Browser Identifier (forget what the exact name is) and giving 404's if you're not using a Microsoft product?
    I'm both super! ... and a doer!

I'm guessing that this was working at one point and just started to not function? It would be odd for them to now disallow non-Microsoft applications from accessing the stream.

You might need to contact Kinoma to figure out what's going on, unless it's just a glitch that will resolve itself.

    mms://streaming1.osu.edu/wmtencoder/wosu-am.wmv

is what is displayed for the station in the Media Guide.

But Kinoma gives a "404-Not Found" error, whereas WMP11 on my PC plays it just fine.

Yes, it used to work a few weeks back. I have reported this to Kinoma. They have a special web page for reporting broken links in the Media Guide.

I'm curious, did the problem get resolved or go away?

    The problem is still there.

Please try the following in Kinoma and in Windows Media Player:

    mms://streaming1.osu.edu/wmtencoder/wosu-am.wmv

    Works for me in Windows.

Same here: works in WMP but not in Kinoma.

I have posted about this in the Kinoma forum but there is no response from them.

This is what Kinoma posted in their BBS:
    ----------------
Kinoma Player 4 EX only supports streaming of Windows Media over http. When Kinoma Player 4 EX encounters an mms url, Kinoma Player 4 EX converts the url to http. So in this case, the url is converted to:

    http://streaming1.osu.edu/wmtencoder/wosu-am.wmv

In many cases, the streaming server can accomodate streaming Windows Media content over both http and mms. Unfortunately in this case, the streaming server can only deliver the stream over mms. As a result, when Kinoma Player 4 EX asks for the stream over http, the server reports 404 - not found.

Please consult the Content Compatibility section of the Kinoma Player 4 Product Documentation for further details:

I suspected that it might have had something to do with the mms protocol, but that didn't make sense considering that it used to work. So, it seems like the station stopped supporting http access to the stream.
