It does work. I have tested it and I no longer have to charge between the time I go to work and return for 3 days now.

Seems to work for me, too. I no longer have to change batteries between the time I leave for work (8:30 am) and when I return home (11:30 pm). That was possible with my 650 only with the extended battery.

    Update:
Took my 680 off the charger Sunday at 0954. It is now Tuesday 0733.
Roughly 46 hours. My battery is at 61%.

    The patch does wonders.

Still not sure if it works. Took it of the charger this morning @ 6.30, now, 8 hours further, it is at 77%. During this 8 hours I turned it on for two phone calls and one appointment. Not very much... So I'd say it is still no good...

I used my camera last night and when I went to bed I was at 90% (I had been charging it all day at work) I figured I'd give it a shot and not put it on the charger at home, and when I woke up this morning it was at 86%!!! I could usually do that and in the morning it would be somewhere around 50 or 60% so it seems to be much better performance!

I'm at 54 hours off the charger and coincidently have 54% battery life.

I'm beginning to suspect ChatterMail has a similar issue in regards to the Camera as I see a noticeably higher battery drain with Chattermail running (even when not connected or syncing) than when I tell it to shut down. (Battery Graph never shows the phone going to sleep when Chattermail is running either)

The phone is not going to sleep when Beam Receive is turned on, on my phone.

Cant really live without chatter now can we?

meh, in 12 hours my battery is at 44% about 4% per hour of use. I can live with that. My day usually wont last longer then 12 hours. And if i still have 50% left after that I should be ok! And I use this thing a lot, compared to most people.

What I've started doing is putting mine on the charger for an hour during the day.. I almost always have an hour at my desk when I can do that. Not a solution for everybody, but works for me.

Gave it a try for some days before replying in this thread. For me the patch does NOT work. After installing the patch I did a battery reset. After that I left the 680 on the charger for a night. In the morning the light was green but it had charged to 92%. Disconnecting and connecting the powercable again It would charge another 45 minutes before the light went green at 99% (but that's normal)

After that I switched on the GSM radio, no BT, backlight appr. 40% and set versamail to auto sync every 30 minutes. This morning I didn't use the phone at all. 4 hours later the charge was down to 64%....after 8 versamail syncs with 10 mails total... and some PIM activity. This is about as bad as before the patch. The discharge at night when the device is idle (no gsm, bt etc.) is down to 1-2%. THis is the only thing that has improved.

At 2 days, 2 hours, my battery is at 41%.
I'm very happy with this result (No GPRS)
I'm projecting I could get 5 full days with my usage.

I plan to charge back to 100 tonight, and turn chatter back on.
I expect my results to change quite a bit.
Assuming I can get 2-3 days with Chatter, I'll be very pleased.

I think I have the same issue as Celf. However, the first day after the battery patch I got fantastic battery life. Then I began not charging fully overnight and only a moderate improvement in battery thereafter. I tried another battery/sim reset last night, but with no improvement today.

Looking forward to hearing others' experience

Assuming the patch works, I don't think there is any way it can alter the battery consumption of various apps. They use what they use. But it can improve the idle time, so if the idle time has changed, that may be the best you can do and the patch is indeed working. You may have to look for more efficient apps.

I had this same issue after doing the battery reset (charge overnight and then 92%). I suspect it was because of taking off the SIM. The Palm stays blocked in a dialogue "Check your SIM" and the LED blinks red/green. I guess that this diminishes the charge.

But else, I'm very happy with this patch. Now my Treo lasts for at least two full days. Last charge for me was on the evening of Jan. 21, so 3 days ago. It has been off the hook since and with moderate use (couple of phone calls and around half an hour surf & e-mail per day, some BT file transfers) I still have 63% battery. This is sufficient for me.

I can confirm this too, Chatter does drain the battery a lot on the 680

the patch is lightyears improvement - it definitely does not drain as quickly before....when I charge my phone then unplug it overnight - my battery used to say 85% now it says 98% - so I congratulate Palm in issuing the patch so quickly -

i could live in peace except for the long load time for Blazer - is that normal?(i know should be another post)

I can say it has definitely improved my standby battery life. Before the patch, the best I could get was a ~1.8%/hour drop. After the patch, I get ~0.5%/hour drop. This is without using the treo at all. Just leaving it alone with minimum settings.

I just finished doing a standby measurement over 24 hours (graph attached), and based on these results I would get about 190 hours standby time. Not the "300 hours", but better than the 60 hours I used to get.

After getting much improved battery life after the patch now my 680 has reverted and maybe even worse than pre-patch. Yesterday, after a full charge the battery was at 6% after 12 hours of LIGHT use with everything turned off except phone. It dropped from 99% to 90% in one hour...today it appears is happening again.

I dont know what the heck is happening with this phone but i'm getting fed up.
