(for those also reading BrightHand, made the same post there)

On my 680, all of a sudden Blazer does not want to connect anymore.
The network connection itself is fine (verified using Snapper, 4cast and QuickNews) but Blazer does not advance.

When selecting a bookmark I see it displays 'redrawing' in the title bar, but after that it stops and a blank page is displayed.

Already tried clearing cookies and chache, no solution.
Also tried removing all blazer related files in Main Memory, nada.
Even tried removing all Blazer related entries in saved and unsaved_preferences using FileZ, zilch !

I am stumped and apart from a hard reset I would not know how to recover from this problem. Any ideas before I go there ?
If nothing decent comes out, I will go for the Hard Reset route (have 3 backup programs running in parallel, though one should be sufficient one would think )

Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

This sometimes can be attributed to a network problem but I'm pretty sure you have considered that. Good Luck!

    Nico,
You describe this behavior as occurring when choosing a bookmark...does it also happen if you "go" to a url? (menu-G, http://google.com, for example), or if you click on a url in Snapper?

have you tried dianetics? you know the problem is the processor. your processor. only re-programming of it will free you to do the things you want to do.

for example I used to smoke cigarettes but because of dianetics I quit smoking!
I still smoke but that's because dianetics let's me do the things I want to do.

OK, knowing who made this post I will consider this a joke.

    Right ?

FWIW I do not smoke so that is not the reason

Bill, I have to come back on this one ...

It seems following a link from Snapper DOES work now (I did a hard reset yesterday to remove that battery.prc program which would not play nice on my device).
Directly using Blazer does not work though...

As a side-note: WHY does Blazer want my Phone to be ON when it starts ? I want to decide myself when it is on or off

I suppose you tested Blazer after the hard reset, but before you restored the rest of your stuff?

Shht, don't be so darn logical ...
No I did not (yet). Had to restore in a hurry since I needed that battery.prc OUT and my info back IN ASAP at that time.

But let's assume it works again ... how can that be then ?
When entering via Snappermail, an URL is fed into Blazer and the download is done as expected. When entering an URL directly into Blazer it does not work.

Where is the difference from a logical point of view ? Why would the former work and the latter not ?

That would indicate that the problem probably lies with at least one entry in the Saved Preferences file.

How so ? I already tried deleting all Blazer-preferences in both saved and unsaved (BLZx). Or did I miss some ?

Maybe another thing to try ... I can remove those preferences just for the fun of it. Will report back.

It may not be a Blazer preference entry. Don't be afraid of a hard reset...

I stumbled upon this page after having the same issues with Blazer. Even a hard reset (without a restore from backup) did not fix the problem. Finally, I took another look at the Blazer preferences (had deteled them before without result), and checked the proxy settings ("set proxy") button. There the "use default carrier proxy" checkbox was ticked. I unticked it, and Blazer is working again!

I am not sure where the carrier proxy is retrieved from, but I suspect my carrier messed up something since I sure as hell didn't change any of my settings.

Just came across this very recently, while having the same problem with my 680. Tried your soluton (uncheck 'use default carrier proxy') and it worked IMMEDIATELY!

    Thanks,
    Mike
