This might be a dumb question, but I'm going to go there anyway.

I'm well aware that the screen is one of - if not THE - greatest power consumer on a Treo (or any PDA or phone for that matter) and that battery life is much improved by lowering the brightness. I've done this for years on every Palm I've owned to good effect.

My question is: Does it matter how "bright" in terms of color? For example, does it consume the same power to use a very bright white screen that can almost light up a dark room as it does to use a black screen? If I change my background color to black instead of white, will I see any battery difference or is it purely a function of the "brightness" according to the slider?

Hopefully that makes sense.
